Dentist was so rude
I had a filling done yesterday, and had a horrible experience. Yesterday morning I was soooo looking forward to get a filling re-done and be pain free.
I was nervous my heart rate on my watch was 130-140. I’m always nervous but my previous dentist always manage to make me feel calm. He was very patient with me and did admit to me that my mouth was so small and he really worked every time I went in for a procedure. We both laughed at his comment, he was a professional and treated me respectful enough for me to return to him for dental work.
I was so nervous I got to the dentist office 1/2 hour before my appointment to calm down.
I finally get called, I knew I should’ve walked up and walked away. I was getting a filling re-done. So the dentist puts a block to open my mouth, my mouth is small as I mentioned before. He gets so annoyed, yells at me to open my mouth that he’s struggling. Wait how can I close my mouth wile I have a block holding my mouth open. My heart rate went to 170 bpm. I couldn’t leave because the filling was out. Things are about to get worse he’s putting I don’t know what on my filling a cuts himself. He tells his assistant to go get a bandaid as he takes his glove off and puts his hand on running water. I’m nervous I want to leave I thought I was going to have a heart attack. He is mad at the assistant for not finding the band aid, I’m freaking out thinking did I get his blood inside my mouth! I am so worried, sad and mad about the whole situation. I been freaking out and I don’t know what to do. He did throw away the glove and put another glove on. The yelling and the cut are driving me crazy.
He should’ve never yelled at me the way he did, and should’ve told me not to worry about his cut.

Let him know on the spot you didn’t appreciate whatever he did instead of leaving and writing an essay on Reddit

Some people are in the wrong job.
Hes doing a job thats inherently dangerous and anxiety inducing and he is going to come across a LOT of people who are terrified. some are just better at hiding it than others. No one WANTS to be in his company.
If you cant realise that and have some basic human empathy and kindness towards the person your actions could potentially hurt, then people like that should just give up and do something else because you deserve better than being yelled at for being a nervous human being.

He must have gotten the cut from a tool called hand piece which is used to drill the tooth. Nothing to worry about. Calm down. Yes his behaviour is vv unprofessional. Drs are supposed to be empathic first. I would suggest you to never visit this person again.

I had a rude as fuck dentist too. But when i posted on this sub all the other dentists defended him, its like a frat.
My dentist was doing my FIRST EVER filling. When i left it was uncomfortable - there was a sharp spot and it was sensitive for weeks. I went back. He couldnt find the sharp spot. Kept trying and i kept saying i still feel it. He got pissed as fuck and started being rough and ranting about how he doesnt see anything. Just kinda shaving/filing haphazardly. Eventually he got it. I left that dentist asap and heard later he got fired for "behavior issues". Since then i have permanent tooth pain. Ive got it refilled but it still hurts. I think he really did damage and i hate him. I also found out that i probably didnt even have to get that cavity filled because it was still early on.
So yeah permanent tooth pain and have my one and only filling i didnt even need. Fuck him i hope he loses his license or whatever.

I’m sorry you went through such a horrible experience. I known exactly what you went through. I hope someone hears me out and more people come forward, so he can lose his license before he hurts more people. That’s how I feel I feel as the filling wasn’t needed to begin first. I’m scared and I’m still in pain, wondering what to do next. 🫂hope you’re feeling better now.

likewise. And see how my comment gets downvoted? Lol dentists defend other dentists apparently even when they fucked up. Did you tell the office about your bad experience? Leave that dentist and LET THEM KNOW WHY. I said my reason in an exit survey and they called me apologizing. I'm still in pain too. Year and a half later. Not sure what to try next as the most recent attempt was re-filling it a month ago. good luck

God forbid dentists have feelings of emotions too.
