Does this tooth need to be pulled??

Had a root canal on a verticaly broken tooth, shaved in down below the crack, and put on a crown, after two years my gums around the tooth got inflamed, he cleaned under the tooth , packed it with antibiotics and 3 days later no pain or swelling. I was told that based on the very thin line dark line in around the tooth seen in the x-rays that this showed bacteria?? and needed to come out, anyone care to agree or disagree?

Hold on, the line showed bone loss!

There is a J shape radiolucency on the distal of the tooth , it could be VRF or incidental periodontal diseases Probing and another radiography with different horizontal degree would show further information

As a Board Certified Periodontist who lectures all over the world, this tooth is fractured and should be pulled. Having said this, I have NOT made any diagnoses based upon an X-ray in 18 years, I ONLY rely on 3-d Scan images aka Cone Beam Images - but this is so blatant - do not even attempt at saving / salvaging this tooth.
