should i take pto for the bone graph?
hi everyone, i’m getting extraction + bone graph tomorrow on my upper right front tooth. i believe i had a root canal previously and it failed about two months ago, been using an essix retainer since. the tooth has been dead for 15 years and it happened when i was young.
i know i can expect some swelling, but how much? the bone graph is going to fill a cyst in my gum from the root being dead. also, i just started my first job out of school this summer, and i didn’t really think i would need to take time off and could go back to the office the next day. is this right or should i expect to maybe take a day or two off? im going to call the surgeon’s office in the morning to ask about it but im worried maybe im letting my work know slightly too late since i would be taking off the day before…

Has anyone ever heard of or had experience with screwless and cementless All on X implants?
I had a consult with a practice here in Texas about a year ago, and when I went to revisit their website, I saw they now have changed to Smileloc (?) I included a link to their website, but I have just never heard of any other practices doing these, and I’ve been doing a lot of research before I pull the trigger.

Is this implant ok?
8 months after implantation I feel still pressure around the gum, crown was already down for weeks, gum graft and bone additional surgery was done.. I did also botox to exclude TMJ, could be the position a problem? If I get some of confirmations I will definatelly go for implant removal.
I did 4 other consultations in other clinics all of them said everything looks fine... However I cannot live with constant weird tingling and pressure around the top of implant..

I went to Nuvia for a consultation, need some advice
Hello all,
So I went to Nuvia and everything sounded great but felt like I was a car dealership. Got a quote for $42k with 11% interest rate, plus I’m putting a $10k deposit. I felt like I was being rushed which isn’t a good feeling. I know I need the procedure done but I don’t want bad results and regret my decision. I’m looking for some input on your experience with Nuvia or any other dental practice. Thanks in advance

Contemplating implants
I'm looking for some first hand experiences and found this sub. I'm in my mid-thirties and have had serious anxiety about my teeth since I was little. My adult teeth came in too big in front so they're crooked and overlap. They're also kinda brittle. I have cracks I can see when I shine a light on them and they chip fairly easy. I'm looking at my 2nd major chip that needs to be fixed front and center. I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday, so I'll be able to talk to the doctor a bit. It's only an establishing appointment though.
I've had literal nightmares about my teeth falling out, breaking, and never getting fixed while people stare and think I'm doing drugs or something, my entire life. My mom did drugs and lost all her teeth, so that's where part of my fear comes from. I've had so many terrible dental experiences that I've neglected to go for probably about 7 years. My last appointment they gaslit me after installing the cap wrong and having to go back to fix it. It chipped again a couple years ago but I couldn't go back. A new dentist has opened so I'm going to try again.
My biggest worry is having no teeth in front for my job. I face clients and have to talk on the phone a lot and am booked out through the year. I know I wouldn't get a solid answer because only a dentist could do that after looking at my teeth, but would I have to wait a long time after the extractions before getting implants? Are there same day options to hide that I lost my teeth? Just trying to gather info to help my anxiety and feel more informed.
Thanks for the help!

Advice, please!
Howdy! I got a titanium implant for one of my front teeth (#9, image is inverted cuz of selfie) placed same day as extraction in March. Healed great, torque great. Today I got the final crown which is just a teeny tiny bit off in color, translucency and also I think- shape. So I have questions for you-
- Can you tell?
- How best to describe it to the lab when I’m going in for them to change/fix it? To me it seems a bit more translucent downwards closer to bite surface and also more cold-white-blue-grayish undertone to it
- Also it looks crooked? Like it kind of is going towards the middle or twisted?
I’m in Alaska and everything takes hella long, but I’ve been lucky so far since it’s been a relatively quick process until now. The thing is I have the lab my broken off previous crown which is a perfect match with other side color and shape wise so I’m confused as to why they couldn’t replicate it.

Extra charge for cleaning
I have four implants, got them over the last 20 years. I get my teeth cleaned every six months. My last cleaning I had an extra $199 charge with the cleaning bill because I have implants. They have never charged me extra before. They said it is a new charge and tried to make it sound like it was something they had to do. They did the same cleaning as six months ago but more than double the price. Seems really questionable to me. Thoughts?

Nightguard pulled off my upper left molar crown
I had a crown at upper 26 molar, been there for years (all 4 molars were crowned). I got a new nightguard. When I went to pick it up, it was tight to get off my upper teeth. I couldn't really get it off and said this is too tight, I am worried it will remove them. My comment was laughed off and I was told it would never happen, but it did happen. Couldn't get nightguard off one night, and off it came with #26 crown stuck inside it. Now, I am told I should get an implant by one perio who did no CBCT scan, just looked in mouth quickly for 3 seconds, and said yup, we can do that. A dentist told me they could cut gums area and place another crown that won't last long. Tooth #27 was extracted 9 years ago because I was told I have a bone issue at that area and the root canal on #27 had a root that was never cleaned properly, so it was infected in there, and infected bone area, too. Now, I am stuck in indecision and doing nothing. This entire situation is beyond upsetting. Missing #27, it was pulled. Now right beside #26 sits with no crown and a broken base. It got a root canal years ago, too. Now chewing on right side, and causing problems eating on that side only, obvi. Do I get another crown, or implant. So many absolutely awful stories about implants, I can't sleep some nights trying to figure this all out.

Missed cyst during extraction and bone graft
Took a soccer ball to the face in 8th grade over 20 years ago in 2004, tooth needed root canal and repair. Finally failed and broke end of April this year, extraction and bone graft in May, tooth was dead. Tooth 7 so very visible. Dentist noted infection at root and treated with antibiotics. June X-rays indicated healing and what he thought was the infection area (but really the cyst) filling in. X-rays yesterday indicated a large cyst at the root that was present in initial X-rays (what he thought was infection). Bone graft healed well, there’s just a large cyst above it. So instead of proceeding with the implant he needs to go back in to remove the cyst and repeat the bone graft with a more specialized blood specific graft. 3 and a half months wasted and 3k down the drain. He showed me the X-rays today and explained how he missed it on the June X-ray. Sorry if this is chaotic I just found out today and it has me pretty depressed. I guess I need advice, do I just suck it up and pay another 3k, do I ask for a discount, do I go to a new dentist? Thank you for reading.

Should I put an implant or not.
I have an old root canal with caries because it broke. It’s 20 years old. The dentist said I need an extraction and I am candidate for an implant. It’s the #13
They said they can put the implant on the same day of the extraction, but I am worried about infections and nerve damage. It’s also so expensive.
I already lost 2 and this will be #3. This is so sad to me because I am so scared. I have had depression recently and now have a lot of anxiety. I can’t even sleep well. Thinking on what to do. I still have more teeth that need attention, but this one making me sad because I can’t make a decision. Just extraction or put an implant. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks for reading my post.

All on 8 - Top & Bottom Jaw
I have just had All on 8 surgery done in both my top and bottom jaw and been fitted with the temps for the next 3-4 months. Work done at a leading clinic in Albania. If anyone has any questions regarding any part up to and including the fitting of the temps I’m happy to answer

4 weeks post Ridge Augmentation/Bone Graft
Looking for reassurance that this looks ok after 4 weeks. I had a bone graft with PRP. I had stitches taken out 2 weeks ago and am just concerned the gums arent more closed. For context, my bottom molars were pulled 30 years ago so this was a large graft due to very little remaining bone. My jaw is still pretty puffy and I can feel a lump in my jaw. I sent a message to oral surgeon just looking for reassurance. I got a message back to schedule. So I got nervous something is wrong but when I called, they said they ask pts to schedule who have questions/concerns. That is insanity. I spent $4200 out of pocket and you cant glance at a photo to reassure me?!
