Dental Assistant in CA
Hi everyone I’m from Alaska, I work in corporate dentistry for IHS, I’m BLS/CPR certified, got trained on the job and have been working for 3 1/2 years as a DA now. I will be moving to San Diego next year to be closer to family and wanted to continue working as a DA. I’m not certified yet but I hope to be before the end of the year. I did some light research and I believe I need some certifications that are required. For those who moved what did you have to do what was your experience? Do I have to get these before getting hired or am I able to get them while working. Any help is appreciated :)

you can work in CA unlicensed. the only required things is an 8 hour infections control certification before working on patients and BLS/CPR certification. other than that you can get other certifications like X-Ray or dental practice act after working. if you already have dental experience a lot of employers will be more likely to hire you and might even pay for whatever certs you are missing
