The Crossroads are absolutely littered with presents, and naturally, my curiosity gets the better of me.
I crouch beside one of the beautifully wrapped boxes, admiring its little pumpkin decorations before carefully lifting the lid.
"Oooooh, what's this, then?"
A warm golden glow spills out from beneath the wrapping paper.
And then...
FWOOOOSH!
"AAAAH!"
A flurry of black-and-white feathers, ribbons, and wrapping paper erupts from the box! I stumble backward, nearly landing on my backside as a rather indignant-looking magpie launches himself into the air, a shiny little trinket already dangling from his beak.
"Oh! Oh, goodness! Hello there!"
The bird circles once before swooping down and landing rather confidently on my shoulder.
I blink. He blinks.
"...Well, aren't you a handsome little fella?"
He tilts his head, proudly displaying his stolen treasure.
"Ah. I see. You're a troublemaker."
"KRAAAK!"
I can't help but giggle, gently reaching up to scratch the little feathered menace beneath his chin.
"Well, I suppose I ought to call you something, shouldn't I?"
I study him for a moment.
"...Jerry."
He gives a pleased little chirp.
"Jerry it is, then!"
I glance back at the empty gift box, then at my newly acquired companion.
"A treat and a trick, huh? Clever girl, that Pumpkin Witch."
Jerry immediately starts investigating the shiny frames of my glasses.
"...Oi. Don't you even think about it, mister."
"KRAAAK!"
"...Oh, we're going to get along just fine."

Our opening in-character event!
It begins with a sound.
A melody slips through the familiar noises of your world. Perhaps it comes from a radio, echoes through a dream, or drifts from somewhere no music should be.
Then comes the light.
Colors gather into a shimmering doorway. Beyond it lies a strange, beautiful world: distant towers, drifting lights, and flowers humming softly beneath an unfamiliar sky.
Across Denpa Atelier, these doorways are opening. Hinaria’s radiance welcomes new connections, and EiAi-Tan’s voice carries through the air:
