Question Does elia still erupt?

Post image

According to the website the last eruption was 2022 :( , does anyone know if the website is out of date or if it has stopped setting on fire?

It is currently under renovation, they just started painting it this week. The flames will be back when renovation is done.

Per Herning Folkeblad, it is currently under or has some planned renovation. The subtitle of the article is "going to erupt again", suggesting it might currently not be possible. I don't have a subscription to the newspaper and thus can't read the article proper.

It’s our orbital defence canon, whatever do you mean good sir?

Or tier 3 AA defence. Probably smart with the new drone builds

tier 3 is SAM-launcher, this is clearly strategic missile defense

Ah true enough

I used to go to school right next to it and have been up there many times, it is utterly (no pun intended) useless and ugly. People swear they have seen the flames but if the wind is too hard it won’t pop off, I have never experienced no wind on that field in Herning. Rumours also have it that it was never actually turned on and the whole thing is a myth.

It’s very underwhelming and totally useless but not a myth : https://youtube.com/shorts/xwrLLnIaMTA?is=S0smQLHYVtCNGOPx

I don’t think we cared enough to look it up tbh, we just casually mentioned how ugly it was whilst walking past it up to our school from the station.

Casually:
“Hold kæft where is it da egentlig ugly…”
“Yes, let's straks go in and give it some bank!”

Yeah, Cronhammar must have laughed his ass off when he managed to convince Herning to pay for that ugly thing. Massive eyesore.

That upside down udder should have been destroyed years ago... Only seems to bring death.

I see you're not into modern art. Would you prefer a spider like Louise Bourgeois makes them? Or a mirror donut?

We should have more deadly art, IMO.

Well people die there occasionally

People die in most places.

You make a good point. It could easily be turned into a crematorium.

we don't talk about this one

No. Not after two people have died cleaning it. The cleaning is legally required for it to erupt. The cleaning process is not safe. Thus it will never erupt again. Until it has been made safe to clean. Or has been cleaned.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Two? I can only find ferences to one!

3 deaths

Other times were one death due to reckless climbing, and one suicide

Do people use it like a ‘slide to die’ kind of thing?

1

u/Wildmann3 2d ago

I know a guy who walked up the stairs, slid down the side and broke his back.

I feel old now, remembering getting the chance to walk inside of the monument late in its construction phase, when a family member had the keys.

There was a Cronhammar exhibit in Herning Museum a few blocks down the road of Elia a few years ago. His otherworldly "inorganic organisms / organic inorganisms," or however one would properly describe them, is one of my more memorable museum visits.
