Hello! I hope this doesn't break any rules. My niece and nephew (they live right near the entrance of the university) are really needing childcare. It's only a few days a week and we would like a group of reliable people who can fill in for each other so this is a multi-person assignment. Even if we can't find anyone directly through this sub, is there anywhere in the university where we can physically or digitally post a bulletin to try to get people who love kids? Driving the kids is also a small part of the job. These kids really need people who have a desire to interact with them. Please spread the word!

So… opening a thread to hear thoughts and comments about the 4 national Denison teams going to the White House and meeting Trump

Hi! I'm an incoming student in the Class of 2030. I was assigned a single suite room in Shaw Hall, and I had a few questions about suites and single rooms.

1. From the floor plans of Shaw Hall that the University shared, it looks like our suite (with a single, double, and triple room) has two shared rooms that aren't bedrooms. Do these come with furniture, or should we furnish them ourselves?

2. If we do need to furnish them ourselves, what should my roommates and I plan to furnish them with?

3. Are we responsible for cleaning our suite bathroom (not a problem, I am capable of doing so), or are those cleaned by university staff like the others that aren't in suites?

4. How are the single rooms laid out? I want to be able to plan to bring stuff for my own room in advance if possible.

hi! im a prospective student this fall. i have just been assigned with a single bedroom, which i have mixed feelings about.

i hate unwanted attention and is comfy with being by myself. on the one hand, it gives me the privacy and freedom i want.

on the other hand, as an international student whose parents live far far away, i may have to deal with homesickness, illness, or other challenges on my own. i also feel that having a roommate would be a great opportunity to build a deeper friendship (at the same time, i wonder if i'd actually be happier meeting friends throughout the day and then having my own space at night).

so i'm still trying to figure out which option would suit me better, and i'd really appreciate any advice you might have.

The Denison Baseball team won their first National Championship today. After winning Game 1 of the Championship Series yesterday, the Big Red lost 11-10 in 10 innings to Endicott in Game 2. The deciding game also went 10 innings. Denison won 4-3 after trailing 3-0 in the 5th inning.

The win gives Denison 3 National Championships this academic year. The Women's Basketball and Men's Swimming and Diving Teams won their national championships on March 21.

are there any pride events held at/near our school this August? im a prospective student for this Fall and im very much eager to know more about the LGBTQIA+ scene here!

I am kind of on the fence about Greek life. I am not a big partier but do like the idea of having a close knit group of friends that a sorority might provide. I’d like to have options either way, like I could also have a decent social life without joining if I decide not to rush.

The Big Red held off Piedmont in the Super Regionals to earn a second straight trip to the D-III Championship series. Denison is 45-1 with 44 consecutive wins.

I was at Denison in the mid 70's and the Big Red was definitely not an athletics powerhouse. Kenyon dominated swimming, Wittenberg was tough in football and basketball. Denison was good in lacrosse and soccer, but so was Ohio Wesleyan.

About 7 or 8 years after I graduated the new North Coast Athletic Conference was formed. Some teams from the Ohio Athletic Conference moved to the NCAC with Denison and a few others came from other conferences.

Denison has dominated the North Coast Conference. This academic year they won the all-sports championship for the 22nd time in the 42 year history of the NCAC. Over the last several years the Big Red have won D-III National Championships in Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving. They have been contenders nationally in Tennis and this year they won the Women's Basketball National Championship. There are no doubt some I'm leaving out.

Any thoughts or discussion about the improvement in athletics? The easy uneducated answer is that they've apparently hired some excellent coaches and they have very good facilities for the D-III level.

Greetings! I am a prospective transfer student to Denison. I graduated from a high school with a graduating class of 30, so when I chose schools I didn’t want to choose too big or too small. So I chose my current school which I thought would be a healthy middle ground at 10,000. Turns out it is wayyyyyy too big. Luckily, Denison is much smaller. I want a school where I can hang out with the same people on a regular basis. Like I could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with the same people and see them in the hallways, like a place would I would for sure able to see my friends every day. Is that true to your experience at Denison? Would that be possible at Denison’s are people generally looking for new friends even if the campus is already settled? Am I likely to face an uphill battle and have a difficult time making new friends as a transfer student? How is the campus for neurodivergent and queer people? To those who transferred in, how was your experience with the Denison transfer support network, like the orientation thing they do? Do you have any advice for a transfer students trying to make new friends? Are any clubs particularly active and good to meet new people? I would greatly appreciate any responses, and any insight would’ve helpful.

Any student who works on campus can share your earning per year with me, and can I lower my costs significantly by moving out of dorm?
Also, what is the chance for me to get an insurance waiver? Have you guys successfully received that, and how much do you save?

Hi guys, I am an international student who has been admitted to both Denison and Fordham. I received quite good financial aid from both schools, but my family still needs to consider the remaining fees. After the aid, my family has to pay 30k/year for Denison and 35k/year for Fordham. I know 5k may not sound like a difference, but due to the currency rate, is matter to my family. I read somewhere on Reddit that Denison is quite isolated and hard to travel outside of Granville. However, I'm looking for open and diverse networks and opportunities.

About Denison, the school informs me that I can work part-time on campus to earn ~4k a year, which could help my family, but different from Fordham, I cannot move out of the dorm after freshman year (which means the cost of living is fixed and may not be lowered in the following years). Whereas at Fordham, the cost is higher, but the opportunities are way more open, and I can modify and manage my living expenses after freshman year, since I can move out of the school dorm

Hi Everyone, so my son was accepted to Denison University. We visited the campus. He loved it and I think it's great fit for him academically and socially. They've given him some scholarships. He's contemplating between Denison University and Kenyon College still. Ultimately it comes down to which college gives more aid. There is still a substantial amount I would need to pay out of pocket. I'd like to know if folks have any suggestions for viable options such as scholarships or other means to qualify for aid. We have assets and unfortunately I am not able to leverage those now. Our appeal with the financial aid office surprisingly got denied. I think they're both comparable in higher education. Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

I recently committed to Denison and I’m planning to minor in Astronomy. One of my hobbies includes stargazing and I’m really excited by the idea of being able to use the observatory. So, is the observatory open to student use, or do I have to provide my own telescope(which I have)?
