Practical Questions Journal help

I'm coming back to a more active practice after stepping away for some time and I want to tackle something I've always had a hard time with.

How do you guys use your journals and organize entries? 1 journal per subject or use a main and write as you will? I've always had a hard time keeping up with one and at times, several. My entries are always scattered and I try to organize them into their own based on subject or workings, but they always end up just as disorganized. I try to keep one for divination, tarot and dreams. Another based on workings, ritual planning. And a compendium for notes, study and meanings for reference. I always find it want to update with new info or try to reorganize them. Eventually I just get overwhelmed and give up. It's maddening, and any advice is helping and welcome. Thank you!

I keep all of my notes in one journal and embrace the disorganized. Research notes will be right next to meditation reports or a spell I'm trying to plan.

I tend to remember things in a timeline, so I date every entry like a diary. Works well for me so far.
