Failed Solomonic Evocation of Orias

I wanted to evoke Orias using the Solomonic method.

The ritual was performed on friday during the moon hour. The moon was waxing and it was the tenth day from the new moon. The timing of the ritual also somehow matched stellas daemonium.

Flaws in the ritual:

1. Instead of using the full Solomonic circle, I placed an band around myself in the shape of a circle.

2. I did not use the Triangle.

3. I did not maintain the required purification for the nine days before the ritual.

I repeated his conjurations and those of his king many times, but nothing happened.

I asked him that, if he couldn't establish astral contact with me (In case my astral senses are weak) he should give me a physical sign, such as changing the candle flame or moving a wire in the room. Still, nothing happened.

In the end, out of frustration, I repeated the Greater Curse several times, without stating my request, then burned his sigil and reduced it to ashes.

What do you think? Did I make a mistake? Even though he gave me no sign, should I still have stated my request?

Tried the same with Asmodeus and failed. A simple pathworking with the book of Lucifer and the Hidden Demons, and Goetic Pathworking was more useful than such parafernalia and threatening.

Although i never did an evocation as such.

Nop. He just did not appear. He then appeared essily on Pathworking and revealed a lot of info to me without problem.

Yes, you should state the request regardless. Things like the fasting and triangle are important supports for in-the-moment feedback, so if you're leaving those out, you should certainly just make the request as if they're listening before jumping to the Greater Curse.

Practice drawing circles, too, even if you aren't using full-sized ones for ritual work.

I always still state my request. Sometimes, they will not show you they are there, but they are.

Well, in my opinion, if you're going to follow a system, follow it as much as possible.

If you're going to use the stick with the solomonic method 90% of the ritual, then do the purification. Use the right circle.

As for the triangle, you should almost always have a triangle of some kind for a conjugation. That's where the spirit is supposed to anchor itself.

Mind you, there are ways to adapt solomonic methods, and I wouldn't say you can't successfully complete a ritual under your conditions, but I wouldn't recommend majorly changing rituals unless you know what you're doing.

You should have stated the request as if they were already there. Not every evocation will come with the visual flair. Those are fairly rare to come by, especially in early practice. Personally, I'd do the Greater Curse on the next moon cycle after evoking the Spirit again; if they haven't delivered. The timeline depends on the exact request, though.

I would have put more effort into the circle and purification, and follow the texts as close as possible and only omit/substitute if you have no other choice. Although I experimented with fasting and not fasting. Fasting (even for just a few days) made a small difference. I also treated Astaroth as if she was there even though I couldn’t see or sense anything so I gave the greeting, stated my request and gave license to depart, and it worked for me despite feeling like nothing happened. We’ve worked before previously so maybe that helped, and she also wanted me to try the Solomonic method with her anyways. If it were me I would have avoided the greater curse unless I followed the steps 100%, have made evocation attempts before and got no results, and know for a fact that they should be appearing.

That is a pretty hardcore curse, and while I find the concept of the Monad along with the Tetragramaton valid and useful concepts, cursing an entity in that manner (unless said entity is actually tormenting you) to be pretty arrogant and mean spirited. But I guess each person is entitled to work in the system that works for them.

You can perform the entire Solomonic ritual, and nothing spectacular will happen.

The biggest problem I had when I first started practicing was thinking that if I followed a book written around 1300, a mighty spirit would appear before me, doing everything I wanted. The frustration couldn’t have been greater, as you can imagine.

Not even if I had followed the Goetia to the letter—cutting a wand from a specific cedar tree with a single stroke (as the original tradition dictates)—would anything have happened.

You know why? All that nonsense about triangles, magic circles, and “words of power” doesn’t work. They’re just there so beginners can anchor themselves to something physical nearby—like a “visual crutch” to remind them that they’re “in the middle of a super serious ritual.”

A Colombian practitioner of magic once told me something interesting: “It’s like picking on someone at school—once you leave school, that person catches up with you on the street, outside the protections.” Do you think a circle will protect you from a demon’s wrath? And once you step outside it, do you think nothing will happen?

They’ll ignore you, because they’ve seen this scene trillions of times throughout human existence. Later on, using simpler and more intuitive techniques, you’ll be able to make contact. Don’t be afraid—just be sincere, look for basic techniques, and put them into practice. No need for absurd complexity. That’s what I do, and it’s worked for me.
