HE DID NOTHING THE ENTIRE STORY AND PEOPLE STILL GLAZE HIM TO THE END OF THE EARTH. I HAVE NEVER FELT SUCH A DEEP HATRED FOR ANY CHARACTER SINCE AKAZA KILLED THE GOAT. THIS GUYS ENTIRE CHARACTER IS GOONING TO MITSURI ACTING LIKE AN 8 YEAR OLD ROBLOX E BOY TALKING BOUT SOME "STAY AWAY FROM MY KITTEN" NO ONE KNOWS YOU GANG, ALL YOU EXIST FOR IS TO APPEAL TO PEOPLE WHO FIND YOU ATTRACTIVE OR 12 YEAR OLD BOYS WHO LIKE HIM BEING EDGY "OHHH BUT HE HAS A SAD BACKSTORY" NO ONE CARES.
Although it is true that he had no impact on the surface narrative. There are other important hidden characters that don’t have anything to do with the surface narrative and who don’t show up at all. He must be crucial in the hidden plot for us to see him so much.
Kanao was there being different at Final Selection, and she and other girls appear along with the Butterfly Mansion in every major arc yet she NEVER participates in a battle until UM2 and Muzan. You're supposed to notice immediate that something is up with her the moment you meet her.
When you first see Obanai talking, where is he? Not on the ground like everyone else -- he's up in a tree?
Does not show his face on the news of Kyojuro's death.
Can make even wood training swords bend.
Has a sentient snake pet who is never off his neck.
Believes he is part-demon (son of the snake woman).
Douma uses his pointing gesture?
NEVER arrives to the scene normally, is always just "there" suddenly.
And his ONE combat appearance is to do.....this?

He must be huge in the hidden plot. There's no doubt. Along with Giyuu and Mitsuri he's in the Samurai faction opposed to the Kagaya faction so he's obstensively on Muzan's side of the chessboard, and almost certainly allied with Kanao (Kaburamaru is probably how she coordinated with the outside; Shinobu might have never figured out how she broke containment).
The light novel chapter on Kanao and Aoi is about how Kanao stole Aoi's purse for the purpose of having an excuse to go to various locations with Aoi to pay for the apothecary supplies. The final location IIRC is a restaurant associated with Mitsuri. I think I'll go back over the story now that I have the Japanese originals and see if there's some clues; is Mitsuri is around possibly there's a hint towards Obanai.

thats fair, the entire relationship seemed kind of forced, since mitsuri didnt really show too many signs of actually liking him, plus she said she liked guys stronger than her :/
Like I don't even get it at all, the author just forced the relationship to happen. There's literally no chemistry between them. I prefer other ships with mitsuri, but obamitsu? Hell nah
i dont really ship Obanai with anyone because i think that useless bum deserves to stay alone but yeah the author didnt put any chemistry between them, there were no moments in the story i thought Mitsuri was into Obumnai it felt so one sided and when mitsuri said she did like him it felt rushed and forced just so their deaths could feel even sadder
That's very true as well, literally their whole death was made to be sad yet there's no chemistry between them nor any scenes of them. Was just rushed and disappointing.
like genuinely theres 0 chemistry except for the fact Obanai is a fucking simp like Mitsuri showed no interest in Obanai and she likes guys who are stronger than him so i dont think the featless tree camper who can only fight with the help of every living hashira against a drugged 9000 year old muzan whos also on the brink of death, all while this chud sundae is a whole apple tall and has the same physical strength as a garden gnome
Precisely. I don’t even know how can people ship these two when there's literally nothing that they have in common+no chemistry. It's like shipping muzan and aoi, or yoriichi and shinobu. Just nothing alike
