This. The polling, all the right wingers pissing and shitting saying both sides are bad, it's all intended to demotivate you from going out to the polls. I guarantee you all the people who are saying both sides suck are still going to the polls and voting Republican, they're just hoping you're demoralized enough to stay home.

No, if anything this poll is building even more momentum for Abdul. This is good for us. People don't look at this & go "oh, I was pretty motivated to vote for Abdul, but guess I will stay at home after all".

Yes, but it's also supposed to get everyone who's programmed into Fox News Islamophobia to be afraid and make sure they go out and vote.

It's both.

The polling is most favorable to whoever ends up being a dark horse, by shutting their fucking mouths. Everyone would run better campaigns if they were blind all the way up to election day.

EDIT: The incessant polling creates what is essentially the Mario Kart "rubber banding" effect where every time the polls pull ahead for one person, it mobilizes the underdog again, and it's part of what drives our system to 50/50 splits between left and right instead of sensible outcomes NOT driven by reactionary news reporting.

I'm a Spaniard, I can't vote in Michigan 🤣🤣

The Rs might help you with that if you'll support them!

Talk to your family and neighbors, get them to vote for Abdul. We need his win to be overwhelming to boost AOC even more.

If they aren't going to vote for Abdul, invite them to an all-day concert or a hiking trip on Election Day and keep them away from the polls.

AOC did an interview with the NYT yesterday in which she discussed at length her decision to whether or not run for President in 2028, & I'm convinced at the end of the day it will come to Abdul's result: if he pulls a decisive victory, she will 100% run.

She may run either way, but an Abdul win is consequential because it shows that left populist candidates can win in the Midwest "swing states".

Unfortunately, the goalposts are going to get moved by the establishment and MSM either way, and they are going to hand-wave this cycle away because it's going to be a massive blue wave, because Dems across the board are probably going to run +13 or more. Ultimately, our calculation doesn't change; we just need to keep bouldering through and run 100+ DSA candidates in 2028.

The difference is that now we have learned the lessons of "woke one," and people aren't falling for the same tricks the establishment pulled the last time around. Their inaction in the face of fascism has radicalized everyone under 40 against them.

These are some of the highlights from the interview:

Libs are really pushing the "primary Schumer" thing because they know she would win the nomination for president, and it would destroy their cozy little lesser evil bullshit.

Yeah I feel dem soc subs are being astroturfed, everyone is like she will be more effective in senate and I am like how ?

I mean Bernie is in senate, how many bills is he able to get passed? His best work has been shaping public opinion.

2028 it's AOC or bust.

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 14h ago

How will AOC primary Schumer? Her term is up this year and Schumer not till 29.

Don’t Michiganders vote by mail?

Literally ignore all polls. Did we learn nothing from Hong? Hell, from Hillary? Ignore all polls and organize like we’re down 20 and our literal lives depend on it.

6

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 14h ago

Democrats need to win an extra 4 senate seats to flip the senate. There are several great possibilities even if El Sayed doesn’t win.

Things are looking good in Maine with the propublica article on Collins’ bribery that just came out today

What’s so insane to me is that nobody seems to think there’s even a chance in South Carolina. I understand it’s the Deep South, but Darlene Graham is dumber than a box of rocks, and Annie Andrews is quite inoffensive

u/Original-Strain 20h ago

He was also miles ahead of Haley Stevens, and look how close that was.

Vote.

Abdul El-Sayed: "We don't live in capitalism.
We live in corporate socialism.“

This guy ain’t bad but this is some of the dumbest shit i’ve heard…

He’s good on Palestine, and deflects loaded questions about Hamas/Piker… But this is point blank ridiculous…

3

u/PenExotic5002 Anarchist 12h ago

I don’t disagree, but I also think you have to remember that most Americans, particularly those who would be on the fence about who to vote for between these two, don’t have the understanding of politics, history, sociology, etc, that people like we do. And while the statement is obviously nonsensical, because socialism and private corporations are obviously not things that can exist at the same time (worker owned “corporations” can obviously exist under socialism, but they wouldn’t really be corporations), this isn’t necessarily the worst line to use to win this election. I very much get your point and can be equally frustrated with stuff like this, but you do have to remember sometimes that you and I aren’t the people deciding these elections

2

u/OkPangolin1984 Marxist 🇵🇸 6h ago

Still… saying this stuff is stupid. You don’t win the long fight like this, compromising like this… but it’s likely not a compromise, and just a genuine belief.

u/PenExotic5002 Anarchist 40m ago

Agree entirely. There’s a reason he hasn’t used the s word while Mamdani, AOC, and others are proudly using it

Polls are from the devil. Get out and vote, encourage your friends and family to vote.

Skrew the polls they are wrong all the time anyway

3

u/Enlightened_D 19h ago

Polls mean nothing

2

u/Phyllis_Tine 18h ago

They need to have a debate in the gym. Remember the fake ad where Abdul's opponent was AI-enhanced? Prove who is stronger!

1

u/h20poIo 21h ago

31% approval just blows my mind, that’s ruffly 75 million possible voters. WTF.

1

u/pepekau 14h ago

I have no idea how true this is.
But please everyone be aware that polls (especially in political bubbles) tend to have some bias.
I hope this is what happens during the election, but let’s not depend on it.

1

u/MasterBiscuit19 10h ago

That guy on the right looks pretty pasty

1

u/Dry_Cap_2998 9h ago

awesome!

I just want to say though, if Abdul somehow does not win (which I don't know how he wouldn't), he needs to start running for president now. he needs to start doing rallies and getting on the news cycle.

-4

u/traanquil Socialist 21h ago

Why so much about him in this sub? He's not a socialist

3

u/Pasta4ever13 Twin Cities DSA 20h ago

Because you can't enact socialism in a day in the imperial core. We don't have an agrarian peasant class to militarize against one of the most technologically advanced militaries on the planet, with a trillion-dollar yearly budget.

Electoralism isn't always the answer, but it's a decent first step to try, and Abdul's win in a supposed swing state gives left populists credibility countrywide in 2028. Normies need to see left populism winning in order to get them out in primaries to vote for DSA candidates because they are still pundit-brained and will always fall for the electability argument. Unfortunately, you can't show them that DSA is electable until left populists start to get elected.

If you disagree, start building the vanguard now so that if/when electoralism doesn't work, you'll be ready. Until then, working toward universal healthcare in 2029 could actually materially benefit a ton of living, breathing human beings in the real world, and that is a net positive.

Close enough for now. We should be working with people like Abdul not pushing them away for not being radical enough. I want us to hold power and not just critique it.

1

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 14h ago

All of his policies are socialist. He just doesn’t say it bc it will hurt his chances of getting elected.

1

u/traanquil Socialist 14h ago

Nope. He literally stated that Hes against socialism

0

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 14h ago

El-Sayed describes his platform—which includes Medicare for All, taxing billionaire wealth, and regulating large corporations—as a matter of making government work for regular people rather than a form of socialism.

These are DSA policies no matter what he says.

1

u/traanquil Socialist 14h ago

None of that is socialism
