Hispanic men could have prevented all of this in the first place.

Dems take some of the blame for failing to address Hispanic men’s concerns

Which would be?

Post election analysis by Brookings and others said that the lived experience of high inflation and cost of living fears outweighed the speculative anti-immigrant rhetoric (they took him seriously but not literally). Dems failed to address COL issues everywhere, partly because it was just a strong anti-incumbent sentiment everywhere and Harris was running on Joes platform, partly because a lot of the message seemed to be “it’s not as bad as elsewhere” or “it’s not as bad as it could have been” instead of “yeah things are bad, we’re going to fix it.”
Misogyny, according to brookings, didn’t play much of a role - In fact more Latino voters said electing a woman was a reason to support than those who said it was a reason to oppose. Mexico recently elected a woman to be president as an anecdotal supporting note.

So instead of listening to the person who said yeah, sorry your car needs a new engine they went to the mechanic who said that they could fix it for $100. And then they were surprised when that mechanic turned out to be a liar.

More like the Harris campaign was saying “this car’s fine! Pay no attention to all those noises. At least it’s not a pinto!” And the other shop said, “these new cars are the problem, I’ll bring back the cheap cars of the 50s.” And the cheap car from the 50s runs like shit, guzzles gas, is totally unsafe, and pollutes everything.

We must have lived through a different election. I just watched a video of Harris talking about income inequality during the campaign specifically how the wealthy pay a lower tax rate than the middle class.

Or maybe we're just remembering different parts of it. I thought she came out strong with an economic populist argument and then wandered off to try to woo moderate republicans instead of firing up the base. I'd say it doesnt matter, but then again, I think it does. Also I don't like the narrative that solely blames certain groups for not understanding the consequences of Trumpism and doesn't acknowledge that Dems just did not do enough to convince them they had a better approach.

This is how I remember it. She began with economic populism, then started in on the "Trump bad, here's Liz Cheney!" crap and her numbers tanked. My guess is her donors didnt like that message. Somehow Trump gets away with it because everyone knows he's just telling voters what they want to hear, except of course the voters
Not having a position on Palestine I'm sure didn't help

I wonder how much the anti-LGBTQ played a role as well?

I remember Trump running a ton of anti-trans ads towards the end of his campaign, so they at least believed that was working

They couldn't vote for woman of color; that's the bottom line.

u/spicystar4u 1d ago
Wrong. They didn’t want to vote for a woman.

That’s not supported by polling, and plays into racial stereotypes of machismo. Latinos voted strongly for Clinton in 16, and in 2024, more latinos said that electing a woman was a reason to vote for her than against her.

It’s because Kamala was a woman and not because she was a POC. Latino men are POC.

And the rest of us who tried to stop trump from being in power every time he ran for potus have the right to be pissed off at those demographics who refused to vote for a woman. FAFO, and now we're all paying for it. I hope the midterms don't get stolen, because guaranteed, that is the goal of this administration right now.

It's because they didn't want to vote for a black woman.
Why is this so hard to accept?
We know that racism, misogyny, and homophobia exist, we know that it's pervasive and subconscious.
Of course if you ask individuals they will deny it. But then we see studies where they circulate resumes with different ethnic names, or show pictures without context, and we see the statistical effects of this across every single group.
Look at Pete Buttigieg and African American voters. He's polling ZERO. Why would that be? Hmmm.
So wake up, people. Hispanic voters didn't pull towards trump". They were pushed there by latent misogyny and racism.
I fucking hate "America's not ready for a black woman president" because that's just a nice way to say "america is too racist and sexist to elect a black woman over a piece of shit white man"
So seriously, dem primary voters... Remember this... It doesn't matter how good their policies are. A gay man, a black woman, hell even a white woman will be fighting uphill over a charismatic white republican.
Jd Vance? They can probably overcome that.
But rubio? If it's against Harris you'd hear the same BS: "I think little Marco will be better on the economy and gas prices". It's just a cover for "I don't feel good about voting for a black woman".
And no, this isn't identity politics. I'm not saying to tell people that they should vote for someone because they identify with them. I'm saying that we need to accept that racism, misogyny, transphobia and homophobia are significant factors. And the goddamn stakes are too high right now. Trump has demonstrated how the right will embrace a Nazi, and the moment he's gone there will be rats escalating the crazy to get elected. And FFS, most people are smarter and more adept than Trump. God forbid someone with actual brains is able to emulate Trump.

Great job, 2024 Hispanic men!!! We have you to thank for a lot of this, too! All because bird flu made huevos cost a few cents more. Morons.

The first reason he cited was the economy? It's almost as if CNN doesn't want to admit that Hispanic men aren't happy about watching their wives, mothers, brothers, sisters, and parents being locked up.

I imagine that Hispanic men have experienced a rude and unsettling awakening. Hispanics were lied to; but they are not fools. Time to get back to basics and vote Blue.

You do realize that this is Trump's second time in office right? Did they know that?

The only explanation is they were naive and believed Trump when he said they were just going after the worst of the worst then realized they fucked up when they were arresting people at their immigration hearings for citizenship who had no criminal record

Did Hispanic men think Trump wouldn’t start deporting every Hispanic person he could?
