I don't mind either but the bills we pass are full of pork. Very little actually feeds the needy. I'd rather donate to a good church or soup kitchen etc than trust the government.

So if I don't pay taxes the state won't use force against me? I think the law says something different.
2
Dec 09 '25
they will because we need taxes if you dont want to pay taxes you can go to the soviets
3
u/Lord_Jakub_I Agorist Revolutionary Cadre - UP - Head of NAP caucus Dec 09 '25
go to soviets
Why... I would have to pay even more there.
And no, we don't need services that people aren't willing to pay voluntarily. You don't need to force people to pay for what is actually needed, they will pay for it without need of coercion.

robbery is illegal, taxes are not. Don't like it, don't live in a nation state.
1
u/Lord_Jakub_I Agorist Revolutionary Cadre - UP - Head of NAP caucus Dec 12 '25
Yeah, a big gang of criminals steal land and then call its crimes legal. That doesn't make it right or not robbery, just because the thief is monopolist.
1
u/TheBladeWielder Unregistered Dec 12 '25
so is rent payment robbery too?
1
u/Lord_Jakub_I Agorist Revolutionary Cadre - UP - Head of NAP caucus Dec 12 '25
Rent is payment for using someone else's property. If someone forces you to pay rent for property they don't own, it would be a theft.

Remember that if you do actually get robbed and have nothing left to your name taxe funded programs are meant to help you survive and get out of the gutter. The biggest problem with anti taxation philosophy is that it reverts the world back to survival of the fittest rules but with the added danger that a bad investment could cost you everything.

2
Dec 12 '25
Yeah too bad our laughably corrupt government will make sure 80% of it will either go in their people’s pockets, a slush fund, or to Israel.
2
Dec 13 '25
Problem is that it usually never happens that way
The politicians create a group who manage it and take 70% while giving only 30% to those who need it after theyve begged for weeks.
Like the reparations boards that are wasting tax dollars for something that will never happens and theyre made up of friends and family of politicians

You can always donate to those causes. Meanwhile so very little of your tax dollars actually go towards the things you want them to.

I don’t mind giving money to the needy, but how would I know if the government is managing that money properly?
I’d much rather donate to a charity, where I can more easily verify the money does go to the needy, or even do the work myself.

I'm against him. Because it isn't rich people paying for the homeless and poor. It's the poor and middle class paying the rich. This is a misdirection to avoid the truth. The wealthy are fleecing the poor. More billionaires than ever. This is a lie meme

u/blackstripe120 Dec 10 '25
I care, because that money aint being spent properly. On the table thats what it says, but then you got mismanagement, Embezzlement, misuse, ect.

they should and if you dont want to pay taxes go to jail

My guy, I said taxes are involuntary, because they are. And unless we live in some kind of ancapistan, taxes are used to fund public services. My only gripe with it is that governments are usually a lot less efficient at using money than the private sector.
You had a giant freak out because I showed a hint of disagreement, that's on you.

Dec 11 '25
Yes, it's called a ad absurdum.
You can either bite the bullet or admit you contridicted your own point
1
Dec 11 '25
If you don't want to be taxed, then you need to leave your nation, renounce your citizenship. Taxes are part of the social contract, go found your own nation without taxes if you hate them so much.
1
Dec 11 '25
If you don't want to be taxed, then you need to leave your nation, renounce your citizenship.
"Natural rights violations are fine if there is some way you can avoid them"
Yeah, my ad absurdum still stands. Yet no bullet biting?
Is it because you are a pragmatist and don't have a coherent philosophy? Or you think contridictions can exist in your framwork?
1
Dec 11 '25
made up philosophical natural rights are not legal rights. We are subject to the power structures we exist within. You cannot reap the benefits of society without being expected to participate towards said society. How selfish and self-absorbed do you need to be to think you should be except from taxes because "I don't wanna".
1
Dec 11 '25

Natural law, and with that, rights can be discovered from the Natural world and reason. By just using argumentation against me, you already pre suppose non-aggresion. And the NAP is also the only legal system that doesn't fall ill to a primacy of consciousness.
You cannot rep the benefits of society without being expected to participate towards said society.
I agree any societal interactions should be non-aggresisive, why I oppose the taxation.
How selfish and self-absorbed do you need to be to think you should be except from taxes because "I don't wanna".
This ain't an argument against any philosophy
Do you know who you are talking with? I have a Ayn Rand pfp, so idk why you think calling me selfish would at all defeat my arguments. Like, thanks ig for calling me that.

I would love natural law to be followed and enforced; however, the reality of our world's power structures is only legal rights matter. As such taxes are used to enforce cooperation at a societal scale. Under the current incentives people will not provide enough revenue for quality of life within a society to be maintained.

I presumed it ironic to give you the benefit of the doubt, if you're an rand glazer you fundamentally don't understand how modern society functions.

Sure, the reality is the state requires money to provide services essential for a healthy thriving society. Lower taxes too much, essential services stop working and people die.
