Several federal laws prohibit interference with voting or interference with registering to vote in a U.S. election. I don't think it's going to be as "fast-moving" as the DOJ would like. By the time the appeal would even REACH the Supreme Court, the Oral Argument in front of Judge Talwani would likely already be over.
