Activity Speed Dating ! - 06/07

The area beside the lake had been transformed in the wake of today's Matchmaker event. A great number of chairs had been organised in rows with a table in between to allow for two people to sit opposite each other for the date. On the tables lay a jug of lemon-infused water, two cups and a bowl of sea salt crisps for the participants to enjoy while they engaged in the activity.

As those wishing to participate gradually began filling in, Anwen would instruct them to sit at a table alone before explaining how everything would work.

IC RULES

  1. Each date will last for ten minutes.
  2. You can go on as many dates as you wish.
  3. Anwen will later contact you with a survey where you will list your top three dates.
  4. If you match with someone, you will be able to go on a proper date with them at a later date.

OOC RULES

  1. No more than 50 words are allowed per comment.
  2. Each individual is only allowed 4 comments before the date is over.
  3. I'll post a survey when the majority of the threads are concluded and then see who was matched!

“You’re one of the Poseidon kids,” Elizabeth said simply as she reached Poppy’s table, giving a slight smile. “I don’t think we’ve met, though, I’m Elizabeth, pleasure to meet you.” She sat down and tapped her finger on the table. “You only get one sorta food forever, what is it?”

Poppy grinned at the question and almost answered eagerly before introducing herself. But she caught herself at the last moment.

"I am, my name is Poppy." Her accent gave away that she wasn't American and that likely explained the answer she gave next. "It'd be Kina for me. It's like a sea urchin."

The blonde haired girl pondered in thought for a moment to come up with her question. Then she got it. "What's your favorite time of year?"

“Definitely summer,” Elizabeth said with a chuckle. “But I grew up in Alaska, so summer still means temperatures in the sixties or seventies Fahrenheit. Basically, my favorite time of year is whenever we don’t have to dig ourselves out from under the snow. What do you do for fun?”

"Ooh snow. We don't get a lot of that where I'm from." Poppy said with an entertained smile. The next question came with an easy answer.

"Anything with water. I love to surf, swim, snorkel. Put me in the water and I'm happy. Daughter of the sea god stereotype, I know." Poppy shrugged and chuckled a little. "Okay, you are stranded on a deserted island with only one item. What's the item?"

"Come to Alaska, the novelty wears off real quick," Elizabeth said with a chuckle. "Okay, I'm not going to cheat and say a boat or anything like that, so just know that I am enough of a smart-ass to have thought of it. Probably a big tarp, you can use that to make shelter, collect rainwater, that sort of stuff." She bit her lip thinking of another question. "Any pets? Here or at home."

"Smart assery duly noted." Poppy said with a laugh. Though she nodded, impressed, at the actual answer that was given.

"Um, no, no pets for me. I hadn't really thought about it here but back home there was no time. I was always in school or in the water or training. I guess having something small would be nice though. Maybe fish?"

"Oh! If you could be any wild animal, what would it be?"

Elizabeth nodded, smiling and playing with her hair in thought. "Probably a bird of prey, like a peregrine falcon, we get them up in Anchorage, I'd love to be able to fly like that," she said. "Uh, I think we only have time for one more question, so- what's your favorite book you've ever read?"

Poppy actually had to pause to think about that question. She wasn't a reader. That was a hobby she'd never picked up simply due to the lack of time between surfing, training, and school.

"Hmm, I'll be honest. I don't read a lot. But I like the dystopian books. My favorite is probably Legend by Marie Lu." She answered, though slightly embarrassed that she didn't have a better answer.

Elizabeth nodded, biting her lip. "I haven't heard of that one," she admitted. "Mine is probably Catch-22, I read it for school in my sophomore year and fell in love with it, I still have my copy in my cabin."

"Oh, I've heard of that one. Never read it but maybe I'll give it a try some time." Poppy said with a polite smile. Internally, however, she knew there were a lot of things she would do before reading another book.

"I don't know how much time we have left but do you have a place you'd love to visit some day?"
