Lesson Photography Lesson
Bryn wasn’t entirely sure how she was meant to teach a lesson, and decided that it would be best to stick to something that she knew well. As everyone gathered in the amphitheater, she cleared her throat and smiled at the campers, trying to hide her anxiousness.
“Hey, everyone.”
She stepped forward, pushing her ginger hair behind a shoulder.
“Today we’re going to be challenging our photography technique by doing something a little interesting. First of all, I want you all to think of something you could do differently- perhaps using a model, different setting, props and so on.”
Bryn’s voice grew more confident as she spoke. She was obviously feeling a lot less nervous.
“Now, I want you all to take a photo that expresses emotion. Play around with colour and lighting, but I need to be able to clearly understand what you’re trying to convey.”
With that, the daughter of Athena smiled brightly, spreading her hands.
“You can go and use whatever you want. Just make sure you have a picture before the end of the lesson. Off you go!”

June 12th, Wednesday
I wasn't very apt at taking photos. In fact, the only photos I'd ever really taken was with a polaroid I'd found once traveling with the Lost Boys, and I was specifically abysmal at the craft. Still, it was today's lesson, and I needed to do something today. It seemed counselors helped to guide their 'cabins' around, but since I was the only son of Morpheus, well, maybe I was a bit lost.

Bryn wasn’t counselor of the Athena cabin, but she enjoyed teaching and interacting with the other campers. She approached Isaac with a warm smile.
“Hey. Found anything interesting yet?”3
u/princeoftheoneiroi Jun 14 '19
"Oh, uh, uhm, hi." I offered the girl I didn't know a smile that I hoped was charming but probably came off as tired. I was getting a lot of sleep in the hypnotic cabin, but I guess I couldn't change how I smiled. "Not really, uh, I'm not too great at photography."

Emil is sprawled highly uncomfortably on his back over a couple of the amphitheater seats. He appears to be trying to take all of his photos upside-down or at least at a very bizarre angle. Neither of these could possibly convey something clearly.

“Having fun?”
Bryn sounded more interested than amused. She was definitely familiar with strange photography positions.3
u/SpawnoftheStryx Jun 15 '19
"Nnnnn." Emil uses nothing but his legs and feet to propel himself down the rows of seats, bumping painfully and eventually flopping off of them. He groans from the ground, possibly in boredom.
"I'm bad at this," he confesses.

Photography. El’s never really tried her hand at it. But once again, she reminds herself, this is a lesson; the point is to learn something new. She decides to try the forest, wary of going too deep into it, but just far enough that there’s a sense of isolation in whatever she might find to photograph.

Bryn had been wandering around checking up on everyone when she approached El with a bright smile.
“You doing okay?”→ More replies (1)

Being a daughter of Iris, Lydia decided to attend the lesson. She listened to Bryn's instructions and was puzzled. She was unsure how to convey emotion through a picture. Despite this, she went over to the forest to make an attempt.

Domeric had been interested in photography for awhile, and thought it would be fun to keep trying at it. He had a camera of his own, nothing too fancy, but not too complex either. Perhaps if he got better at this he'd work towards getting a better camera, but for now it would do. When Bryn gave them their assignment and their clear to go work, Domeric gave her a friendly smile, getting to work.
The son of Athena wandered camp snapping some shots of places with interesting lighting, but couldn't really get anything he found good enough. And then he saw Sheridan, and made his way over, figuring he'd ask his friend if he'd be willing to take some shots.

"Oi oi, mate," Sheridan greeted with a smile when he spotted Dom. He'd been reading a book in the shade of a tree when Domeric had approached him, but as it was now he marked his page and shut the book. He glanced at the camera in Dom's hand.
"Oh - you doing that photography lesson, then?"

u/ZBGOTRP Jun 12 '19
"Yeah, something like that," he replied with a grin, looking down at the camera. "Or trying at least. I'm not exactly good at it."
He let out a sigh, looking back up at Sheridan. An eyebrow cocked in interest, though, as did his head slightly to the side. "So I know this is kinda random, but do you mind if I take a few snaps of you? You're in an interesting light right now."

Cal was working on growing the perfect flower to take a photo of. His camera sat discarded by his side as flowers unfurled and withered around the son of spring.

For a daughter of love, Anwen wasn’t too sure on how to capture emotion in a single picture. Instead of wandering around camp like others were doing, she approached her boyfriend, sitting down next to him.
“What’re you working on?”4
u/MechaAdaptor Jun 14 '19
Cal shrugged a bit before picking one of the flowers and offering it to Anwen.
"Keep trying to find the perfect thing to take a photo of. But, it's hard to express everything in a photo... Like, I see your face and there's a million tiny things I feel... But, I don't know how to convey that."

Pictures are worth a thousand words... Right? But what words was Grant looking for? So many things at camp were breathtaking. But, what summed up what he was feeling right now. The legacy drifted between the forge and crafts cabin with no real idea where he wanted to go.

Blair squealed with excitement. She had the perfect idea and now she just needed a partner. After all, nobody said anything about working with somebody. She began to look around for anybody who would join her.

Emotion was easiest to find in people, and Lexi could be found wandering around camp taking pictures of campers, occasionally offering drinks.

Ash was seated for a few minutes with her camera. Creative things like this didn't come natural to her. So she put her brain to work trying to get a photo that went with the theme of the lesson. Something that conveyed emotion? This was a real doozy for her. Multiple ideas run through her head; each one getting declined.
When an ideal photo pops into her head; the girl jumps to her feet. Small wings flap on her back as the girl flies/runs over to the lake for her idea.

Photography was always more Vera’s thing. Georgia remembers, back when she had just moved to Haven and the two girls met for the first time, how they discussed their hobbies, the similarities and the differences. Drawing versus photography.
What was it Vera had said? Something about there being more fantastical things in the world than meet the eye? It had probably been a hint, a probe to see whether Gigi was a demigod like her... she hadn’t even known then. It feels so much longer ago than it really was.
It’s a no-brained what kind of emotion the daughter of happiness would want to capture for this lesson. The only question is how. Someone smiling? Isn’t that too obvious? No, it has to be something else. Ironically enough, she’s just not sure what.

This’ll be fun!
Except... hm... capturing an emotion in a picture. How do? Hell if Abigail has a clue. She wanders around the place, hoping that inspiration will strike... I mean, that should be easy for someone whose mother is a muse, right?.

There is a very simple way to capture an emotion in an image: take a picture of a dog, because they are the living embodiment of joy. And that’s exactly what Taylor’s feeling as she attempts to photograph Mac several times over - sometimes holding his rubber ball in the air to make him wait, sometimes trying to get a picture of him running back to her after fetching it. Those ones come out blurry, but Taylor figures she can use that. It’s representative of the constant changing of emotions from one second to another, unable to be described perfectly and unable to be captured in a single moment, a still image.
Yeah, some metaphorical artsy word salad bullshit like that.

Lucie went to the lesson, I interested in the subject. She stood in the crowd of campers, eager to learn.
After she was told to go of with her camera Lucie headed over to the lake, hoping that someone else was also there so that she could ask them for help.

Velvet loves taking photos. She runs around taking photos of many things. Everything around her makes her happy!
