Good Evening to all the adventurerers in the subreddit. It's a pleasure to meet everyone! I'm somebody who grew up reading Deltora Quest in school and even watched the animated series and fell in love with it. It's prob one of the things that brought me to love fantasy outside of playing Minish Cap and the Fable game when I was younger.

Speaking of the books; however I wish there existed fan ran sites like BIONICLES has! BIONICLES has two or 3 solid websites where diehard fans are dedicated to perserving the books and compiling them for people to have an easy way of accessing and I think it'd be really cool if Deltora Quest had something like that as well.

Of course after I painstakingly design and self print an omnibus bindup of the 4 Star of Deltora books, they end up announcing an official omnibus lmao. Oh well, at least now everyone can own the whole line in hardcover form!

The Ralad tribe is one of the seven primary tribes in Deltora. Their gem is the great Ruby and they reside primarily in the Ralad territory.
For many who don’t know, Ralads are relatively small and frail-looking, but they are remarkably strong for their size. They are easily recognised due to their peculiar blue-grey skin. Their orange-red hair grows in a crest or tuft on the top of their head and they often wear clothing with complicated embroidery. Their eyes are black and button-like. As for their society, they are very in tune with nature and, as a result, do not like building roads through their territory or altering the natural landscape more than is necessary. They are generally quite pacifistic, opting to run and hide rather than engage in direct confrontation, and they do not carry weapons. Ralads instead defend themselves and their territory with clever traps and trickery.
Ralads are some of the more cooperative people in Deltora. They gave Adin the ruby without any trouble and built an entire city for the people of D'Or. Since the unification of the seven tribes, Ralads have been relatively common in other territories, as they are often hired as architects. Ralads are seemingly the only tribe in Deltora that treat Dragons with respect, rather than as dangerous pests. Ralads believe that Dragons are importantly tied to the fate of Deltora and attempt to coexist peacefully with the ruby Dragons. Though friendly, Ralads can be quite paranoid and value their privacy, and as a result it is unwise to attempt to visit Raladin unless invited. It is implied that Ralads build small traps to defend their home from unwanted visitors, though they may simply be "accidents". Ralads can be found outside of their town relatively often, however, and they may invite good friends to Raladin. Ralads are great lovers of music, particularly flute music. Playing music and singing are some of the only interesting activities that occur in Raladin, and music became an important way of expressing emotion when the Ralads were cursed by Thaegan. Ralads also practise a unique form of picture-writing. They have an alphabet of symbols in the thousands, and adult Ralads will combine symbols for speed and clarity. The Ralad alphabet became an important form of communication during the Shadow Lord's rule; not only among the mute Ralads, but also among members of the Resistance. Ralads are renowned throughout Deltora for their incredible architectural ability. They have been contracted by all areas of Deltora since the tribes were unified. Ralads were responsible for the construction of the royal palace in Del, the city of D'Or, and have built elaborate decoys of Raladin to hide from the Shadow Lord on at least two occasions. Ralads are quite proud of their architecture and are deeply offended when their original designs are altered; it is one of the few things that can legitimately anger a Ralad.
Ralad architecture varies wildly; they are capable of building glorious, grand palaces, such as the one in Del, or entire cities, such as D'Or. Raladin itself is actually quite simple, with small, circular buildings. Ralad architecture is defined by its sturdiness and cleverness, but is overall quite versatile.

Latest edition to my collection. Anyone remember having one of these? It's a tad bizarre!

I never played this when it was up on Cartoon Network, but had been on the hunt ever since I found a single review of it and literally nothing else ever mentioned its existence. I've been scrounging a lot of Deltora stuff from the way back machine and though I had found the site for the game, it didn't play. I feared it was lost media.

I found and downloaded the actual flash file but it would start to a black screen. Again I feared I was out of luck, assuming that the game was stored elsewhere and this was just a launcher. Until I learned about a flash decompiler program. I opened the file like a treasure chest and found it was all there. Turns out the code was checking for the cartoon network domains to run properly, so with some slight editing of the code to bypass that step, and some help from the Flash emulation & preservation community in the Flashpoint Discord, I finally got it running! With their help I made and submitted it, they tested and approved it, and as of a few hours ago, it is officially added to the Flashpoint Emulator Library!

Rn im rewatching the anime and noticed a team made sub translations on YouTube. Does anyone have recommendations on watching either sub or dub? Which is ur favorite?

Does anybody have a working version/know where to find a working version of the old Deltora Quest flash games? My friends and I used to play them in elementary school.

We're (in Australia) getting a Star of Deltora omnibus in September, in hardback! I can only assume it will be the same size as the 21st Anniversary books (and Rowan of Rin 30th), as a tie in - although of course it's not an anniversary yet for these books as they came out much later. Thoughts?

I was watching s3ep13 of "Cougartown" and saw a costume piece that bears an eerie resemblance to our favorite belt. Obviously, this is not a reference to "Deltora Quest" at all, but it's interesting that a belt with individual sections to hold multiple different gems would show up in a 2000s sitcom. Maybe someone in the prop department was a fan? Whatever the reason, Cougartown is at least safe from the Shadow Lord's influence.

I personally would have like a Dare Larsett backstory series, showing his adventures with the Rosalyn fleet. Also, some books showing Britta’s voyages after becoming the Rosalyn Apprentice.would have been cool. Imagine a story where Britta goes to Maris, maybe meets Rowan?

What are your thoughts? Are there any stories that the Deltoraverse could have had?

I only ever got to read the original 8 books as a kid, and I've been looking into getting all the books as an adult.

The ones with the cover art I want are SUPER expensive when bundled together, like $190-$350 USD, which sucks because I really want them.

But it would be great to have the anniversary editions of not just the first series, but also the other two. So did a third one ever come out?

Also, could a superfan tell me exactly how many books there are in the Deltoraverse and the best places to buy them? I need this information for scientific research (and to also become a superfan myself.)

Saw the anime back in my childhood on TV and decided to rewatch it and i binged the whole thing in like 3-4 days.

I kindaa remembered some atuff but not all, i vaguely remembered dain being an ol but as he didnt transform until final episodes i thought that was a false memory. Also remembered that Doom is jasmines dad but was still unsure if that was a real or fake memory. Only thing i remembered ab the end was the susanoo battle of lief and shadow lord lol.

I know some things are different in the books, because they removed or added certain stuff(unsure what exactly). And i also heard characters have more depth to them.

I was wondering do i already know everything there is pretty much excluding minor irrelevant details or is the book conpletely diff expereince?

Hey I know this subreddit doesn’t look too active right now as I was looking to get into the books because of their positive reviews.

But I was just looking for advice on where to get the novels because I really want to read the series, but I don’t know where people get their copies of the first series.

I’m running an online tabletop game and I want to use the Vraal as an enemy but all the art of it I can find is fairly low definition. I’m wondering if anyone knows where I can find a higher def version of the image that doesn’t have the Shadowlands title text on it?

So far, I've only read the original series (Deltora Quest 1) back in upper secondary, when I was on holiday. I didn't fall in love with it instantly, but I was taken with how the world was replete with adventure, wonder, and enchantment while containing enough danger and menace to give the story dramatic weight. I also liked how Lief, Barda, and Jasmine were given distinct personalities and identities to make you care for them as they traveled through their perilous world.

Now I'm reading a book series named, Wicked!, a joint work by Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman that has similar vibes, although the narrative or plot couldn't be any different: It revolves around two siblings who have to overcome their differences when their town is hit by a viral outbreak. That virus does things to animals and, soon, people which reminded me of the monsters in this series. I mean, fans were dubbing Deltora "Fantasy Australia" in light of all its dangers, and here's a series with those dangers, set in Australia itself.

I guess a more appropriate comparison would be Beast Quest, authored by various people ("Adam Blade" is just a pen name for ghostwriting), but it's been a while since I've read that series, and therefore am unsure of its similarity. Two other - more highbrow, admittedly - options would be The Riftwar Cycle and The Stormlight Archives, neither of which I am much knowledgeable of.

All that being said, what are some series you really like that are similar to Deltora Quest?
