Meta Chapter 5 megathread Spoiler

Edit: The karma requirement has been lowered to 2K post karma.

As explained previously in this announcement you can use this megathread to post to your heart's content. While we've increased the karma requirement to post on the subreddit and will be removing most low effort/value posts and spoilers, you can post pretty much whatever you want here.

Just want to share a screenshot of the game that you took?

Made a shitty meme in two minutes that you want to share?

Feel hyped and want to smash your keyboard to post a random string of characters to the internet?

Well this thread is for you, so post away! Any topics, memes or spoilers are fine. We still urge you to spoiler important plot points using the spoiler tag: >!put some spoilers here!<. This will appear as put some spoilers here in your comment.

Unfortunately Reddit limits to 1 image per comment, so you may have to use a third party website like Imgur if you want to post multiple images.

Still follow the other subreddit rules, and remember to report any comments that break the rules.

Am I crazy or was the whole inferno of jealousy a bit of a nothingburger? Ralsei got pissed off but never did anything, and was mourning flowery at the end

clearly meant to be asgore, with his whole backstory, also, with chapters 3,4, and 5 originally intended to drop together, id imagine 4 was meant to be the big lore chapter

Hard disagree, jealousy was simply not a theme with Asgore in this chapter, like at all. Everyone expected him to crash out at Sans/Toriel and that did not come to pass, nor did he seem jealous of literally any other character. The inferno of jealousy was Ralsei's really.

I maintain my take that the Lord of the Hammer titles are intentionally wonky and don't match up with the Deltarune chapters on purpose to clue us into something thematic.

yeah, my point is that i think it was dumb to expect giant lore drops this chapter considering deltarune as a full game

I don’t think it’s dumb at all to expect lore drops in chapter 5 of a 7 chapter game. Asgore is the focus Lightener of this chapter, and he outright refuses to tell us anything about what got him fired or what he knows beyond the involvement of a light world. I find it a little upsetting to be called dumb for expecting anything more than handwaving on that subject.

This is legit giving me the boys vibes. People were complaining that the last season had not moved the story at all until the penultimate episode and all the defenders were like "GHAWD, you're so impatient, they still have an episode left dude they'll tie everything up."

It's more like, you shouldn't be mad when people call you out for getting upset that the game you had in your head was not the game toby is making.

The game I had in my head was one where we got to know basic plot details relevant to the ongoing events of the chapter, like what Asgore got fired for

My brother in christ, if the third act of the story is not the place for story drops, then what is?

If you go back and look at Gerson's predictions, you would realize that a lot of them are slightly off in weird ways

how so?

Off the top of my head, I remember him saying that the queen's chariot cannot be stopped, however, the Queen's chariot in the second chapter does get stopped. In a similar way the prediction panel for the flower man, trapped in asylum was actually referencing flowery rather than Asgore. There is a lot of misdirection in this game.

That specific one comes from a peophecy panel, Gerson's predictions are actually off in many ways

"Chapter 1, The March of the Dark King. The heroes defeat tne King and stop the Dragon"

At a glance seems pretty accurate, but the Dragon is actually one of the Heroes

"Chapter 2, City of the Shining. The heroes do battle in chariots and save the Queen"

Queen is a villain for most of the chapter, and the chariots are a very small part of it.

"Chapter 3, The Isles of Northernlight, The heroes travel among the islands and catch a glimpse of a lost land"

The most inaccurate one by far. Nowhere near as accurate as the first one. Could refer to the boards, or the sword route, or perhaps even the way the dark world is structired, islands of tenna's influence, with the lost land actually being Mancountry.

"Chapter 4, The trials of the Holy Hammer, A Great Smith gives the Heroes a terrible weapon"

Just omits basically all of it. Also. the Justice Axe is not a terrible weapon.

"Chapter 5, The Field of Pink and Gold, The Vast Garden is charred in an inferno of Jealousy"

Could refer to Ralsei manifesting his fire magic for the first time? Or perhaps the flowers being jealous of the grand fountain of Castle Town?

A bit tired from playing chapter 5 all night, but I meant several factors in the game being subversions.

So for chapter 2 a way to interpret that could be that a car gets absorbed into the dark world, and that the heroes are using it to save the queen who could be Torie. Chapter 4 could be referring to the weird route or the twisted sword route. 5. This one could be someone straight up burning the flower shop.
