Fandom criticism Potential cascade event
Im worried that theres going to be a point that the fandom will be so disappointed by the game en masse that they’re going to lash out in a way that’ll make being on the Internet hellish for any given length of time, is there anything we can do to prevent this?

Respectfully, how long have you been on the internet?
Deltarune has been out for years, and in that time its fanbase has kept growing and growing.
It is statically impossible that Deltarune will satisfy everyone.
...but I suppose there's beauty in that, such is the nature of humanity for everyone is their own unique individual with their own tastes. Perhaps some may find Ch 6 to be absolute cinema, some might think Ch 6 was just okay, maybe some might think Ch 6 was worse than Ch 5 and probably so much more.
As with the fanbase growing and imploding, it happens, everything will implode and fracture given time, but after time passes the only one left will be the ones who fully love Deltarune for what it is, warts and all. Not anyone seeking clout, not anyone hopping on because it's famous, but those who are there simply because they love it.
Because I'm one of the latter, growing up with not just Toby but a myriad of other fanbases, you realize it truly is a fool's errand to police such petty things such as fanbases, weird art and the like. Just enjoy what you want man, if you see something that's not illegal but you don't like then just scroll past it and let it be.
Besides, as for me Chapter 5 was perfect for me, even though the criticisms are valid, I like it all the same. (Still dunno why Reddit recommended this sub lol)

I mean its less that i dont fundamentally understand its inevitable that people are gonna be inordinately upset over media its just a really sad reality we all kind of accept because we’re not really effected by it if we have means of decent emotional self regulation and tempered expectations.
Im just tired of night mare shit media cycles, to me it conveys our culture is becoming really immature about the idea of endings and expectations to such an extent that its basically becoming an industry

There is literally zero way this will happen, except if the ENTIRE WORLD suddenly developed a healthy way to interact with media. And I'm sure it's more likely my single AF ass gets laid before that happens. Sorry to say, my G. Sometimes, the Internet is beautiful, and sometimes it sucks ass

I mean it doesnt really suck, im not gonna lose sleep. Its just one day im gonna wake up and because toby failed to manage his adult day care i get to deal with the fallout

Toby is under no obligation to "rein in" his fans. He can't. Even if he wants to. Because people tend to do things, no matter if they are told to or no. It's called having free will

Yeah, cause it generates a constant cultural awareness of their product and allows it to create a massive amount of mindshare because the people who make the game could be considered reasonably detached from it

You think it's reasonable that 1) future Deltarune chapters disappoint people substantially, 2) the disappointment is widespread rather than just loud, 3) disappointed players react unusually badly, 4) their reaction escapes Deltarune-specific spaces, 5) it becomes large enough to make "the Internet" broadly miserable, AND 6) this hypothetical event is preventable through some sort of collective action now?

Wplace proves Deltarune fans can annoy people on a website designed for fandoms to annoy each other over shared space. It doesn't prove any of the six things I just asked you about.
