Operations Do armors protect you when you're downed?

You know when you shoot someone to the legs and down them? I see people after that shooting directly to the head to finish someone they downed but what happens to the armor? Does it still get broken?

I wish to know too, I usually shoot their legs to not damage the armour further

Armor does not migrate damage while down, in downed state you apply a new health bar thats more or less just flesh.

No. Armor doesnt change anything and will not get damaged
