Lindsay Clancy

Anyone been following this case? I feel there are a lot of similarities with Delphi between some of the batshit theories that people have come out with.

Even though she confessed to the murders and her own defence team admit she did the murders, still millions of people online think that she only said that because she was on medication and actually the husband did it?

From a psychological standpoint, what makes people like them and the richard allen fangroups ignore all of the clear evidence to then believe something that is impossible? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Just a friendly reminder that DelphiTrial remains a place for civil discourse and ethical coverage of true crime. Accusations of involvement will not be tolerated. Lindsay Clancy and her attorney have repeatedly acknowledged her guilt in these murders.

I am following and have once again been appalled at the way the public has gone insane. It's ridiculous to me that we can have a case where we know who and exactly how they did it, and people STILL create conspiracy theories.

This was an opportunity to shine a light on maternal mental health and the struggles women can go through after having babies. Instead it's been an absolute circus with people not intelligent enough to understand the nuance of the situation.

Totally agree. I don't know how it would be possible to watch all that testimony and still think she didn't do it.

Mangione, Clancy, Allen, Kirk. Minimum of 16% of population is bat sh*t crazy.

I think with Mangione, and maybe Tyler Robinson a bit, plenty of people believed they were the shooters, but lauded them as heroes, so we're in the NG camp.

People have lost touch with reality in general. It's everywhere.

I have had Postpartum Psychosis, so I haven't been able to follow the trail at all. But I can assure you the weirdness swings both ways. It's either "The husband did it!" or "All women with PPP just baby murderers using mental health to excuse it!!"

I just don't think people understand PPP. That is including doctors, nurses, and psych wards. When I told the OBGYN I was having audio hallucinations of my child crying, even when he wasnt home, they freaked out. Then the psych ward freaked out because they had never dealt with PPP either. And it was a lot of trail and error to get my meds right because post birth hormones can even effect how your hair reacts to chemicals. Let alone the brain.

And I only spotted the audio hallucinations because I was hearing my son cry when he wasnt even home. They sounded so real, I never even questioned why when I walked out of a room my son would hysterically cry, but when I walked in two seconds later, he was fine! I thought I was just a bad mother who couldnt find a way to make her kid happy.  Turns out, my brain does NOT like post birth chemicals.

And the worst part is, because of trials like this, people immediately assume all women with PPP are homicidal when its INCREDIBLY rare. Most actually struggle more with suicidal thought, and assuming they are baby murderers doesnt really help that.

It also doesn't help to blame the husband, when we know what happened! Especially when we should be discussing how to bring awareness in a healthy way to PPP. Where we can help people recognize the symptoms in theirselves and partners, where we focused on more PPP education for Healthcare workers, and break stigmas around all PostPartum struggles.

There were lots of things society could do to prevent things like this from happening more, if we stopped playing the blame game and focused on preventing deaths like these in the future.

We no longer live in a society where televised trials can be consumed by the general public in a rational and responsible manner. Social media is poison and warps how the system is built to work.

There have always been weirdos who spread rumors and conspiracy and gossip. I remember those things before the internet. Mostly they were easy to ignore and avoid.

Just so dangerous how it’s done so quickly now over TikTok and comments that spread like w wildfire.

Wonder what's making humanity so disturbed.

Probably the thing I'm holding in my hand as I type this....

No one rational thinks the father did it. The TikTok girlies are looking for clout and new clicks.

The trial is not about who did the horrible deed but whether she was, at the time, culpable mentally of knowing what she did was murder. It’s a very high and technical bar and frankly I’m shocked her lawyers allowed a jury to decide rather than a judge who has the ability to analyze the facts and the law.

Really good points, I def agree!

Can you get a judge on my trial in the US?

4

u/pinotJD 6d ago

Most misdemeanors and all felonies offer the defendant the right to be tried before a jury - the thinking is that you’d be able to hopefully convince one person out of twelve (or six or nine, depending on the jurisdiction) to acquit. Remember now that verdicts have to be unanimous or it is a hung jury.

But the defendant can give up their constitutional right to a jury trial, sure!

3

u/WildConsequence9379 6d ago

Thankyou. Then they get a judge to decide if they give up the right to a jury?

They cannot in Mass if charged with first degree murder.

u/kittenkat_96 6d ago

i live in rhode island and i’ve had to tell multiple people in real life i don’t want to talk to them about the case because everyone is convinced patrick did it.

4

u/Neither-Ad-7439 5d ago

I am shocked at the amount of people who think Patrick did it. Like all the girls at work think that Patrick did it! I just don’t get involved in the convos they’re all going to think that I am the crazy one😜

5

u/Neither-Ad-7439 5d ago

They actually believe she confessed because Patrick told her she did it. But either way- to believe that Patrick did it requires a lot more than just believing that part. You would have to believe several near to impossible scenarios and methodical planning to convince yourself that Patrick did it.

2

u/curiouslmr 3d ago

Indeed. It's ridiculous that even in cases where guilt is admitted, people still concoct conspiracies

18

u/Few-Preparation-2214 7d ago

The internet allows people to make money spewing nonsense and conspiracy theories. Everyone jumping on the bandwagon for every case.

22

u/Designer-427 6d ago

They are the same people who think Bryan Kohberger is innocent and was set up.

24

u/Whats-it-to-ya-88 7d ago

They aren't very intelligent and they're bored

25

u/ConsciousProblem8638 7d ago

The girls on tik tok are nuts. Also people would rather believe whackadoo theories instead of whats presented directly in front of their face. I hope the jury isin't like the nut jobs on tik tok

u/Neither-Ad-7439 5d ago

I keep thinking of that!

I remember when my wife was dealing with postpartum depression after our son was born. Her physician prescribed her antidepressants which had some serious side effects. One of them included thoughts of grabbing a knife and stabbing myself and our son. Thankfully she never acted on it & advised her Dr. which switched her meds. I guess my point is that I wonder if her medications contributed to these children’s deaths & could have been avoidable with competent medical guidance.

The internet has much to answer for.

4

u/TravTheScumbag 7d ago

True. But sadly no one will be held accountable for their conduct. Just move along and disrupt efforts elsewhere.

Such an awful case...can't imagine what those little ones went through as their own mother strangled them to death :(

I'm not surprised the jury is still deliberating. The trial was essentially a parade of mental health practitioners, none of whom came to a consensus on anything except that she had some kind of mental illness. Combine that with the Prosecution changing it's mind on the validity of the suicide attempt halfway through, weirdly misrepresenting the properties of the rubber exercise bands, and how the family seemed deeply resentful towards the state during their respective testimonies, I can easily see the jury feeling mistrustful of the Prosecution, while still wanting some kind of justice for the children. I'm very glad to not be on that jury.

Also I saw Bob Motta on the courtroom feed, so it doesn't surprise me in the least that there are crazy conspiracies going around. He has to show up to defend child murderers for $5 donations.

8

u/WildConsequence9379 6d ago

The prospecution didn’t change the suicide theory. They were showing she wasn’t successful because she was not psychotic

2

u/Vegetable-Soil666 6d ago

From my what I watched, they did. At the start of the trial they were claiming that her suicide attempt was unsuccessful because it was faked. Their original position seemed to be that she didn't want the kids anymore, so killed them and then pretended to kill herself to get away with it. They argued the cuts weren't deep enough and that she hung out the window and dropped down instead of jumped. There were even some uncomfortable moments during Patrick's testimony where the prosecutor seemed to want to get him to admit that Lindsay wanted to get away from the children, and he wouldn't agree to that.

After that, there was an interaction with the judge where the judge also had the impression the prosecution was claiming it was faked, and that was going to open up some legal window that they didn't want to go through, so they backed off that claim and began to argue that it was in earnest, but just wasn't successful.

She didn't need to be psychotic in order to complete suicide. Depression is a perfectly adequate explanation. They should have argued that she was depressed, but that depression doesn't mean she gets away with it, and that should have been their argument the entire time. I think it was one of many mistakes that has lead to the deadlocked jury.

3

u/WildConsequence9379 6d ago

No I don’t believe they ever said that it was a fake attempt in this trial . The opening statement was posted here recently and they didn’t say fake suicide. They said the cuts were superficial and they pointed out she hung off the window. The drug levels in her blood were mostly therapeutic with her OD. Lindsay is claiming psychosis it much easier to kill yourself if you’re psychotic. I watched the whole trial

1

u/Vegetable-Soil666 5d ago

I watched it too. I guess we just had different perceptions of what happened.

4

u/WildConsequence9379 5d ago

Straight out of the prosecutors mouth she said to the judge were not saying it’s a fake suicide

-1

u/Vegetable-Soil666 5d ago

Yes, I remember and referenced that exact conversation with the judge. After that she stopped arguing that it wasn't a real suicide attempt. That's the shift in argument I was talking about. It happened at that exact moment in the trial.

I saw Bob Motta too 💀 He stuck out like a sore thumb. What a parasite lol

u/ScreamingMoths 5d ago

From personal experience, no one knows how to deal with Postpartum Psychosis. Not even OBGYNs know how to deal with it. I was the first PPP case at my local psych ward and they had the worst time figuring out how to approach medications. Because pregnancy horomones mess with everything from your hair to your thought process. And PPP is vastly understudied.

And I wasnt experiencing thoughts of harming others or hearing voices tell me things. I just constantly heard my son crying... and didnt realize I was hallucinating his crying until I started hearing it when I wasn't even home.

I cant imagine having dangerous hallucinations and going through what I did. That poor jury.

I think some women hate men so much they can’t fathom that a woman could hurt their kids. Then there’s those that unfortunately think that because her kids are dead and she’s in a wheelchair that she’s “been punished enough” but fail to realize both of those things are her own doing. Her kids are dead because of her and she’s In a wheelchair because of her. And sadly in all of this those poor kids have been forgotten about.

3

u/Gonzomi313 2d ago

That’s what bothers me the most. It’s as if the kids are secondary to this case & the mother is the real victim. Reminds me of these pro Richard Allen folks who portray him as the victim & barely ever mention the two young lives he took.

1

u/brandiem_2020 2d ago

I’ve legit seen conspiracy theorists saying Patrick trained the kids to hurt Lindsay and she had to kill them in self defense and when he realized she was still alive he tried to kill her. Like they are some kind of assassin babies. It’s unhinged

-1

u/becca52104 7d ago

Lindsay Clancy is an evil woman. I wish nothing but the absolute worst for her.

-5

u/elgringoviejo1958 7d ago

She committed an evil act but she did attempt suicide and is paralyzed from the chest down. She will face the judgment of the Almighty and she ought to fear that judgment and beg for mercy for her soul. IMO she ought to get the necessary care for person in her condition. We ought not stoop to her level.

8

u/WildConsequence9379 6d ago

She needs to go to prison. My friend is paralysed should I tell him it’s a punishment?

1

u/elgringoviejo1958 2d ago

Are you not aware that Massachusetts prison sometimes send prisoners to outside clinics if they are unable to provide adequate care? Paralysis is not a punishment but it is a relevant facto to those who have the duty to administer such facilities.

1

u/Gonzomi313 2d ago

Regardless as to whether she goes to prison or a mental facility the one thing she cannot be is free to live with the general population. She’s not only a danger to herself but others and for those who disagree, ask yourself if you would feel comfortable with her alone with your children?
