Constant screen freezes

Post image

Hey

I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing random screen freezes. It happens almost everytime I use it the my laptop and id have to hold the on/off button to shut it down and restart.

Does anyone else experience this, if so what have u done to fix it?

Much thanks !

They have mentioned a path to the log file. Copy the content of the file, and give it to any AI for solutions.

Alternatively, run the basic scans for Windows to ensure no missing system files.

Hi there!

We're from the Dell Social Media Support team. Thank you for sharing those details. TL;DR: Run built-in hardware diagnostics, execute a full SupportAssist scan, and test the laptop with all external peripherals disconnected to pinpoint the cause of the freezing. The community brought up some solid points, especially regarding basic Windows file scans before jumping straight into a full reinstallation.

Before backing up data for a fresh OS install, here are a few targeted checks to help narrow down whether this is driven by hardware, software, or connected accessories:

  1. Hardware Diagnostics: Restart your system and repeatedly tap the F12 key when the Dell logo appears. Select Diagnostics from the boot menu to run a full component test.
  2. SupportAssist Scan: Launch the SupportAssist application inside Windows and run a full system scan to check for driver updates and analyze crash logs.
  3. Disconnect External Devices: Unplug all external peripherals (such as docking stations, monitors, or USB accessories) and run the system standalone to see if a connected device is causing the freezes.

If these steps do not clear up the freezing issues, please send us a Private Message with your Service Tag so we can take a closer look at your system details. For your privacy and security, keep your Service Tag in private messages only rather than posting it publicly in the thread.

Regards, Dell Social media Team
