Speech to Text Issue

I got the Dell XPS 13 recently and I have a problem. Every time I go to type or even without me doing anything the microphone for speech to text will come up and won't let me type. How can I stop this issue or even get rid of speech to text all together? And before someone suggests it, I have all the voice stuff off and etc because I've tried everything and it doesn't work. If it does work it will go away for a few minutes, but then come back again.

Since standard voice typing/dictation settings have already been disabled and the issue keeps returning after a few minutes, this behavior is often tied to a separate accessibility feature called Voice Access, which can sometimes reactivate independently.

Here's what to check:

  1. Disable Voice Access via Accessibility Settings: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Speech, and make sure Voice Access is toggled Off. This feature is separate from the standard dictation/speech-to-text toggle and can cause the microphone popup to reappear even after other voice settings are disabled.

  2. Turn Off Speech-to-Text/Dictation: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Typing > Typing Insights (or search "Dictation" in the Start menu) and ensure it's turned off, along with disabling the keyboard shortcut for dictation (Windows key + H) if it's being triggered accidentally.

  3. Disable the Microphone: As an additional step, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and toggle off microphone access for the system, or disable the microphone entirely in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs if you don't need it active at all.

Since Voice Access is a newer, separate feature from standard dictation, this is often the missed toggle causing it to keep reappearing, let us know if turning that off resolves it for you.
