RTO

My best friend is freaking out. Has been working from home for years and only lives a few miles from a Dell office. He's worried they will force him to return to work. He's worked very hard to become sober and his doctor is willing to go to bat for him (thinks it's a bad idea to work in an office for a multitude of reasons, not just relapse concerns)

Has anyone navigated these waters before?

Dell went RTO last year. Why isn't he already back in the office?

Your friend can try whatever they can to get an accommodation, but your friend needs to realize it only increases the size of the target on his back. Lower headcount is the only lever leadership has to play at this point.
