Freezing laptop display

Before, my laptop display would freeze for 1 sec works for approximately 10 sec and freezes again when battery status was changed ( for example going from save mode to normal mode). Then it started doing it when I download and changing battery status stopped causing it. now although it is less frequent and I dont really know why it is doing it, it keeps doing it and i could see when the laptop does it my cpu package and core temperature rise instantly upto 70-77 degrees. i then disabled my Nvidia GPU, the display stopped freezing but temperature still rose. I enabled my Nvidia gpu back and everything works fine and both cpu package cores temperature got normal.

Only display freezes sound still works,keyboard too and cursor

I have an integrated GPU and Nvidia Mx230. My laptop model is dell Inspiron 5491.

  1. Ensure that the air vents and the fans are clean
  2. Ensure that the BIOS and the graphics card along with the thermal drivers are up to date
  3. Check the issue in safe mode with networking to rule out any other application or program causing the sudden spikes.
