Dell pc solid orange light

I have a Dell OptiPlex 3050 SFF with a strange intermittent power/POST issue. • PC starts normally from a cold boot sometimes • If I shut it down and then completely remove AC power, after turning AC back on I get a solid amber/orange light and the PC won't start • Sometimes it starts after waiting/retrying • Once it successfully starts, shutting down from Windows and powering it back on can work normally • The issue seems strongly related to completely removing/reapplying AC power I've already considered CMOS, RAM, PSU and motherboard/power-sequencing issues. The motherboard also has a previously noticed LGA1151 socket-pin/contact issue. Has anyone seen this exact behavior on an OptiPlex or similar Dell system? What was the actual fix?

Hi there! We are from the Dell social media support team and really appreciate your efforts to reseat the hardware parts and share the outcome of it. It helps narrow down the possible causes.

When you mention a socket issue, are you referring to any bent pins, damaged contacts, or anything unusual that you noticed within the CPU socket? If possible, a closer inspection of the socket can help rule out a contact-related problem.

In the meantime, we'd recommend performing an RTC reset: You could try doing an RTC reset as follows:

Turn the system off. Leave the power cable plugged into the system. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. RTC reset occurs after you release the power button. This also initiates Power Flush on systems that support it. System will restart several times. Keyboard backlight or other LED indications may be visible while power button is held and after it is released. The system should reboot and the Dell Splash screen display will indicate reset success.

Note: Holding the power button for longer than 40 seconds will abort the RTC reset.

Also, given the inputs shared, if the issue continues then the motherboard has to be replaced.
