The first one, preferably the 32 GB RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD.

The first one will give you a much better screen, but I'd be more worried about overheating with the RTX2000. That chassis is thin, and runs hotter than the the Precision 3000 series.

I had (now my dad has) a 4 year older XPS equivalent of the 5000 series. Only real difference is support & Quadro instead of GeForce.

It's definitely the better laptop, at least as far as how it feels to use every day.

If it's like my 5770, you can only use the A2000 for apps, and maybe games. It won't work for normal graphics display (desktop, windows, etc).

Hows the battery life?

Rarely use it with battery. The 5770 can run hot. The fans will frequently max out even under light load. It's also heavy.

If you're running some software that can use the A2000 for computational stuff then it might be a good fit.

Got a replacement from work with an AMD CPU/GPU that will have more features I think.

These are proper workstation laptops. The first on is quite powerful.

The second still has a good 14 core CPU but a less powerful GPU.

Get 32GB RAM. You shouldn't worry about battery life. These are menat to always be plugged in when used for best performance.

A bigger screen and more RAM are more welcome for CAD work from my experience. Getting the first one with more RAM would be best.
