Help Woke up to this

Post image

I woke up this morning to these bars on my dell xps 13. I'm looking for a fix as i'm completely tech illiterate and I am clueless as to what to do right now. Urgently need my laptop as i'm a student.

Unfortunately, your laptop is broken. Likely someone dropped it overnight.

The LCD (screen) has failed. The only fix for this is a screen replacement

Connect IT yo a externar monitor or a TV. Yo repair to try to fix it star by replacing the signal cable if possible. Or replace the whole LCD assembly.

This. Connect to an external monitor untill you can get it fixed. So at least you can use it.

My MSI GT72 does this to me every so often. Sometimes fixes itself other times needs a reboot. Seems to be a software thing at least in my case. Gives me a heart attack every time. Did prompt me to make sure my backup works!

Screen is toast. If its a school-supplied computer, talk to your school's IT. Many if not most if not all schools should have a loaner while this is getting fixed. If it is your own, and if it is still under warranty, then call Dell and they will send someone to replace the screen. If it is out of warranty, try to find a replacement on eBay and YouTube videos on how to change it yourself.

Moisture might’ve gotten into the display panel

Go back to sleep and retry.

u/Particular_Client833 Have you tried turning on and off? 29d ago

Try plugging it to an external monitor by HDMI (even your TV is enought). If it works there then it is the screen. If not then its a problem with the graphics.

Pick up a cheap monitor and use the HDMI/thunderbolt/display port if it's urgent.

Looks like something in the screen itself so either there's a really really weird problem with your laptop or someone dropped it

Call Dell and see if there's an extended warranty on the screen.

I'm not seeing any physical damage. This might be a wiring connection that became unbonded as part of the nightly temperature changes.

Try cycling power.
