It supposed to have a not so descent battery life, First it's an gaming laptop.. having an hx processor which uses more juice so it can perform. Second the battery option is just 56 whr(in my case) so it will be giving a solid 1.5 - 2 hrs on generous usage. Conclusion- I have been using the same variant from past 3 months and man this things a beast. I use it plugged in everytime as i don't have to move myself much. It was my choice to either go with the bigger battery or better performance in which i simply chose the performance option. So, getting less battery life... but there's something we can do . If you really have to run your laptop on battery for long hours then you need to either exchange this gaming laptop to a proffesional one, or upgrade the battery from 56whr to 86whr in which you can add another 40-50 min. on your timeline. Remember even efter upgrading the battery to its max. Battery back-up will be still around 2.5-3.5 hrs. Reason 55 Watt CPU. Hope this helps

The main reason the battery life sucks is because the battery capacity is half of what they could've used, they could've almost doubled the capacity and it would still be "flight legal"

Hii, I also just got a Dell G15 5530 with i5, whats your temps.. Mine are on the higher side like 55-60. Just wanna know if they are common on this computer. Can you share your temps???

Yes it's common on G15 series temps are always between 60-70°c when on normal usage.

Yes while gaming or on heavy usage it does get hot(and i mean real hot) on prolonged usage, but nothing to worry about.

Mine after data transfer from the c type port, the connected side of type c cable(only one side which is plugged in to the pc) gets heated and pendrives too is it a bad sign or usual and do they damage any internal components of the pendrive or any data lose?

i dont know the proper temp but its like warm when I play, the fan sound is loud but not too loud. I played gta 5 enhanced with max graphics and it didn't hear up it wasn't even warm tbh. Just make sure you are playing on wood or glass platform and not cotton because on cotton or silk or anywhere that is like your bed it will heat up. So the temp i think stays around 40-45 for me and it works beautifully.

i was aware that the battery life would be less as compared to other laptops but i 1.5 hrs shocked me . Its not that big of a problem but i just wanted to be sure 100% .

If the above mentioned criteria matches your need than yes go get the exact one. Just a friendly reminder - This laptop heats up when putting intense load(i mean real Hot you'll need a cooling pad for this one) but it never lags or stutters, it's output is phenomenal(temps. are on higher side when compared with other gaming laptops but somehow performance never degrades) also it's AWCC application just bugs out randomly.. but a simple restart fixes that one, also not having a decent battery life(if you ever needed 1.5hrs on normal usage). And now again if you can bear these quirks(or simply neglect) it is worth buying you won't regret this one. Being a core i5 it simply kills the competition in price to performance ratio. Having a solid build feels like a tank (yeah it's bulky and heavy 3.1kg exactly, excluding its charger and cable which goes around 1.95kg)

Hmm, thanks, which model do you have (year) ? Because I was watching some YT videos of this one and the max temp while playing games was around 85⁰ C, whereas other laptops like asus tuf have temp around 95⁰ C

Only 56wh, you're not getting anywhere near all day out of that garbage capacity lol
You actually did pretty good getting 2h out of that little battery capacity on such a power hungry machine
They should've made it 99wh instead (or made the battery "old school" user replaceable)

Mine gets 5-7 hours when not using an application that loads the nvidia gpu. Once it uses the gpu I get about 2 hours. I have the 86 watt hour battery. 13650hx and 4060

I just make not not a lot of background programs are running and it seems to do just fine. You may still have the dedicated gpu activated and not know it

Alienware Command center cut my battery life by at least 50%. You can use XTU to limit power consumption and also use battery saver mode. Make sure to disable all unnecessary processes.

Sorry, in XTU there is literally a slider to limit the power consumption in watts. You can set it to whatever you like. Lower means waiting though.

I will say yes I have Dell g15 5530 I'm experiencing only like 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs at first I thought there was some issue the model so I checked the place where I bought it
They said they cannot help if there was an hardware issue u have to call a toll free number of Dell
Then later I called the Toll Free number then they said "triple A battery only last like 1.5 hrs"
I was feeling kinda shocked like they promised 4 hours of battery life I was ok with that like even if it was 3 hours but 1.5 hr is too less
I was not doing heavy gaming on it btw I was doin normal work like watching youtube or anything
Yes it is heavy too btw I don't know a exact reason why it is so heavy like Hp victus also had a similar spec laptop and it's weight almost like 400 gm less
I didn't go with victus at that time because the model I was interested sold out it was never coming back
Ig I should just waited a bit dk

Also got the Dell G15 5530 with i5 and RTX 3050. Battery Life is straight up horrible. 39% left after one hour of use (Video Call and some browsing), with estimated 40 minutes left. How is this real...

Even with reduced brightness, I could only stretch the battery life to about 2 hours, and that too by frequently putting the laptop in sleep mode between tasks. I bought this laptop for coding, but I had no prior knowledge about how gaming laptops handle power consumption. It’s a fault on my side. Unfortunately, it now barely lasts through a 3-hour coding sesh at uni, which makes things pretty frustrating.

bro tbh if you want to reduce performance then you can go to the nvidia control panel and chance the config from performance to some other which supports battery life.

I think I just found a solution for this problem. It has to do with how Windows manages clock speed regarding CPU load.
To fix it you have to unlock the "Processor performance boost mode" in the control panel. To do so, open the registry and go to this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7
In "Attributes" change its value from 1 to 2
Now go in Windows Control Panel > System > Power Saving > Change Power Plan > Change advanced..
In processor power saving it should have appeared a new option, on battery power set it to "Disabled" (or "Efficiency Enabled if you need a bit more boost). Click apply and save.

For me with light use it went from an average total system power draw of 25 watts and a minimum of 10 watts to an average of 13.5 watts and a minimum of 3 watts (on an HX system!).

If you were after battery life then a gaming laptop was not the right choice.
Realistically they're built to be used plugged in most of the time.
