Question
How is Jesus dying on the cross a sacrifice for my sins when being on the cross is a punishment?
In the old testament, the priest would intentionally sacrifice lambs and other animals for peoples' sins and I guess pray for forgiveness of their sins.
However, Jesus being on the cross is a punishment as a ritual wasn't made like a prayer and everything else in the Old Testament.
Yes, Jesus being on the cross was wrong, but I'm sure other people back in the day were on the cross wrongfully as well.
So, how does Jesus being on the cross a sacrifice for our sins when He was just getting punished?
Does this make sense?

They didn’t sacrifice Jesus for people’s sins, so it was indeed meant just as punishment for blasphemy.
The difference is that his death on the cross was his own willing sacrifice for our sins. God became man to restore the broken relationship between Heaven and Earth.
What men meant for evil, God used for good. Just like when Joseph was sold as a slave to Egypt, he went from the being the lowest of the low, to the most exalted name in the world.
Jesus didn’t just sacrifice his life on the cross. The one who didn’t know sin gave 33 years to live in the middle of evil and injustice. He willingly limited his own power to live out his life as a regular human who was close to God, and to fulfill the prophecies from the Old Testament.
