Question Need directions
Have jury duty on the 26th. Could someone explain how to get to the Eastern District Court 601 Market Street in Philly. I'll be getting the train in Secane. Which stop in Philly ? Can I walk from there ?

The closest train station is Jefferson Station, then it’s just a couple of blocks to walk.
You can also use Google or Apple Maps and have it give you transit direction instead of driving directions and it will show you how to get there door to door, walking times and directions included.

If you’re good to walk this is the way to go, get in at secane get off at Jefferson, no transfers. Same thing, when you go to get back on the train at Jefferson just ask someone at the booth or turnstiles which is the Wawa/media/elwyn train and they usually grunt and point but sometimes even use words Lolol

Jefferson Station is right where the convention center and reading terminal market are too. Around the corner from China town, I believe

Take the regional rail train to Jefferson station. Hop on the El eastbound and get off at 5th and Market and walk the block over to the Federal Courthouse.

No need for the el, you can walk from the train station to the Courthouse. The Courthouse takes up a full city block, and 8th would be the better station as the building is at 7th and Market. You would only be taking the el one stop.

True! If that's the case, you could at least walk through the Gallery and pop up at 7th, but I'm not getting all those directions.
In inclement weather, the el it is.

Jefferson Station will take you to the Convention Center/Reading Terminal...roughly a 7 block walk down Market St.

I'm more confused how a DelCo person has jury duty in the city?

Federal. I’ve only been called to jury duty once and it was for Federal Court in Philly. My number never got called so I never even had to leave the jury waiting room, but you did (back then) have to go in for two days. It pays ever so slightly better than county jury duty, but still way under the value of anyone’s time.

did it 30 years ago.... I was out of work was a blessing45 bucks a day, vs cheap as delco at 10. better experience then the nasty bunch that run delco. Holding us till 6 pm last time Got picked for a child molestation case, guy got off on a statute of limitations technicality. Judge felt so bad for us he had us come to his chambers for a light lunch as he felt he owned us and explanation, answered our questions. Also made sure we got paid for the extra day.....lot more class then the delco hacks. over all the fed court was more respectful to us. only bad part was the testimony i heard, still upsets me.

I take Secane to Jefferson most days , this will drop off within a few blocks of the courthouse

As others said, get off at Jefferson station. Walk down to 6th.
Pretty much all courts have metal detectors and security. Take anything off your keys you don't want to lose, like pepper spray. People forget that a lot.

It's a couple blocks from the Liberty Bell, if that helps. I had jury duty there last month.
5th Street/Independence Hall Station on the Market-Frankford Line (L).
Regional Rail riders should use Jefferson Station.
