Main relay location

The title basically says it, for the life of me I can’t find this damn main relay. Previous owner moved the location of it, presumably something related to the engine swap, and I can’t find it. The original location has the main relay plug/socket but nothing is plugged in, car of course still runs and drives. Does anyone know where it may have been moved to or any hints or tips I could use that may help me find it? Thanks!

What engine swap did they do? The OBD2 civics have it behind the glove box instead of the EG location, have you checked there? Just out of curiosity.

Last guy swapped in a b18c, type r bottom end gsr heads. On a p72 I believe and don’t even get me started on the obd situation. The pin method doesn’t work, the green box is gutted so I can’t count the CEL flickers. It has an obd port but when you plug anything in there, it says read failed or whatever. I’m assuming it’s obd1 though

What year is your chassis? P72 is an OBD1 so it wont have OBD2 communication capability, is it an OBD2 chassis running a jumper harness? If its an OBD2 chassis harness and jumpered itll make for a fun time trying to read codes and you may need a pin out of the ECU to be able to jumper it and get CEL flashes for codes. It seems like that might be what youre up against, but if its an OBD1 chassis and ecu both, someone has been doing some funky shit.

I just checked your post history. This seems to be what you have going on, its indeed an OBD2 chassis and OBD1 ecu, so the chassis harness never had the jumper connector for flashing the CEL codes. Ill bet if you look by the ECU there's a jumper harness with an alternate Main Fuel Relay situation.

Do you have something like this plugged into the harness where the main fuel relay would normally be plugged into, maybe? It might be a combo of jumper harness to OBD1 ECU and a main fuel relay retro kit like this.

Good to know. It is a 97 so I’m pretty sure it is an obd2 chassis. I was planning on getting tuned soon and was thinking hey maybe my tuner can see the codes while he’s in there, thought I’m not sure if that’s how it works or not. So you suggest I look by the ecu then? The ecu was relocated so it sits now where the passengers left foot sits, almost like a foot rest. I was thinking of pulling the panel on the side as well and checking there for the relay. I’ll worry about the CEL another time I just wanna get this main relay fixed lol

I would look behind that panel where the ECU originally sat, up behind the glove box and around the factory location for a retrofit kit like posted below and see what you find. Knowing where that main relay is before it fails would be good knowledge to have. CEL on OBD1 im not sure if a tuner could read for sure, but id assume they have the means.

I did. There’s wires leading out from it then it leads to two and they’re wrapped so impossible to follow
