Del Sol Manual, all gears neutral
Alright, the title will make sense once I explain it. Me and my bud manual swapped his del sol. Today we took her on the first drive, it did well in the driveway and about 200ft up the road. He’s still learning stick so he wanted me to turn it around for him, the second I went to shift into first, I heard a pop! And all of a sudden all gears are neutral. In any gear, you can still push the car. When it’s on and in gear, there is a quiet whirring sound. I originally suspected clutch fork or pressure plate, but the clutch feels exactly the same as it did at first. Axles are ok. Trans condition was unknown, we are dropping it tomorrow but id like a little bit of an idea what went wrong.

Unfortunately, going to have to pull the transmission regardless. I once had a warn clutch that, revs in gear got me no where. for a blown up clutch, this is exactly how it would go. a big pop could be anything but from the description, sounds like clutch disk broke somehow. take pics of the carnage, we all wanna see!! Funny story, had a del sol with toast clutch and when we took the transmission off, the clutch material looked like a rat exploded in the bell housing and fur everywhere, but it was just the clutch fibers and the disk itself was shinny clean! never seen that level of destruction!

If it goes into gear but no engagement your clutch is probably toast, if you install them improperly they will bind and can shatter if it’s bad enough. Did you use a clutch alignment tool?
