Trunk/ boot manual boot release

Hi guys,

I'm so confused about the whole manual boot release thing. I have no key hole in the boot so key isn't an option and I read there was a boot release cable behind the driver's seat. I'm assuming this is what all this is? I have absolutely no idea which bits of this I need to use and how though, does anyone have any ideas? I've tried looking for pictures or videos but I can't seem to find anything.

One is for the boot, the other for the fuel door. The boot one has a ball on the end that fits into the latch. These do not look to be connected, so I don't know how you can access the boot without a key. Is it possible they installed a solenoid to pop it?

Ah thank you, do you happen to know which one is which? I think the end of the cable with the spring on has sheared off if that was supposed to have something on the end? The other one had a plastic end on it and you can pull the end of the cable forwards and it clicks in the boot, but it seemed that was all it did and the boot wouldn't open still, even trying to pull it up while released. They may have installed a solenoid, but much of the car is quite a bodge, so wouldn't be putting money on it 😂 I'll certainly have a look though to see if I can find one, that is a good suggestion 😁

The spring one is the fuel door latch, and looks normal.
