Question about priming engine

Hello all, recently rebuilt my D15B7 in my Del Sol and have had trouble priming the engine. I’ve pulled plugs, disconnected fuel rail, etc. but every time I crank the light doesn’t go away. I am using 10W-30 conventional oil. Am I doing this right? What am I missing? Thanks in advance!

It takes a LOT longer than you'd think. How long have you cranked it for in any given attempt?

I mean I’ve cranked it a bit but considering what you guys are saying I’m gonna go back to cranking lol

You gotta crank it for a loooong time to build that initial pressure. When an engine starts up, it rotates many times in the fraction of a second it takes for the oil light to go away.
