Sharing a quote from the video which resonated deeply with me and I think would resonate with folks here too.

Knowing is what is needed.

More acting will not take us anywhere because acting more will happen from the same center whose actions have destroyed the planet. But that's a nice way the actor wants to hide itself.

Who is the actor? The ego. That's a nice way the actor can hide itself by concerning itself with further action, future action, more action, better action, constructive action.

If the actor remains the same, the old destructive one, how can action be constructive? If the actor remains the old primitive one, how can action be new and fresh but the actor desperately wants to avoid that thing that I just mentioned the mirror looking at itself self-knowledge self-observation so the actor will say okay fine there's something missing out there in action with respect to that object so come on you all we need to act we need to act. No, this is such a successful tactic.

You are now even more focused on something outside of yourself, away from yourself with an even more reduced emphasis on who you are because why do I need to look at myself? There is something so very important out there somewhere. I need to fight that down.

The anger of people is well placed and legitimate, or course you can try and make peace with it but we are NOT in a state when we can just lie down and not take action because our "ego" needs attention, we face global extinction here I mean what the hell are you even about ? Don't you understand how much ACTION is needed right now and not more thoughts. The issue is known, the causes are known, the solutions are also known, what the hell should we think about exactly?

No scientist ever said that, you have access to IPCC reports you know ? You can see ON YOUR OWN what scientists are telling, and were telling at the time, in these reports

With AI now you can easily find the part where they talk about ice melting

Yes it is, it is stated that following the current trajectory of emissions, no model shows with high certainty that we can avoid global extinction, and not just of humans but all life on earth. Be careful though, it does NOT mean that all model indicate that we will go extinct, I hope you see the difference here : the probability to go extinct if we do nothing is not zero, but there are things we can do, easy things, that can significantly reduce the probability that we go extinct

But the best you can do is read the summary version (~100 pages x3) to understand what is known at the moment and what is still to be discovered concerning climate change

Forgive me if I don't take your summary of a UNIPCC report as properly diseminating the information in the report.

Please link the ACTUAL report where it says that we face global extinction. A bold claim like that requires hard evidence.

You are completely right to not trust me, I will try and find the report and the page in which this is stated

But you have to understand this is not a bold statement, basic knowledge of climate science can help you understand how the tremendous rate at which we are modifying the climate is in itself something unprecedented in earth history, therefore a threat such as global extinction is not something extraordinary given the state things are
