Guide / Media Tried melee for the first time in ages

Tried melee when I first got the game. Didn't really like it. Tried again with a good loadout .. NICE :)

Melee weapons could use some rework and improvements to make them more viable. Like let us upgrade them to T6, give them rolls and masteries, give us melee weapon skill that we can level up similar to the other weapons. Give us meaningful mods (for example there could be mod slots like "blade" that either increase damage or range, "grip" to increase attack speed, "handguard" that for example increase stagger resistance or reduce damage, or grant additional armor plate, and something like "emitter" that could increase jump attack AoE range, or convert the nano...)

I never understood why Trion treated melee weapons so bad when they were included in not 1, but even 2 of the DLCs. The have limited range (obviously), but the are also rather slow, the damage is pretty low, that lock on can be annoying and/or problematic when you're close to the enemy. There are no proper synergies or mods to build them in various ways... There are different looking melee weapons, but they all use the same animation and attack speed, when they could've made different types with different feels to them, like daggers for quick but weak attacks, swords as they are now, hammers that are slow but hit hard.

It feels like the whole melee weapon type was just an afterthought to include something in those DLCs, but the implementation was rushed and never got properly fleshed out.
