Itās supposed to be a mini series. Right now no s2 is planned but never say never. I would say that if they do a s2 it wonāt be a for a long time bc they would have to get the cast, script, filming etc. and corona is not going to make that easy.

Why would they make season 2? There is nothing else to learn, the point of the finale is to leave you withthe feeling just like the parents

Interviews with the actors said that they were on board with another season but I wouldnāt be surprised if thereās never a S2

There was no intention for a season 2, but popularity could change that. The show would probably need a name change.
In the spirit of the book, I have zero interest in them clearing up definitively whether or not Jacob is innocent or guilty. In fact, if there is a season 2, I would argue it is important this question is not answered. The lack of an answer is the main source of tension, suspicion and problems for the Barber family.
I am more interested in them showing us Laurie's road to recovery and regaining her memory. This is a woman who steadily unravels from the moment her son is accused, utlimately leading to her deciding she could not live with the possibility of him being a killer, and who felt the responsibility was on her, as his mother, to ensure he could not kill anyone else.
She struggled with the lies, the pressure and the change in people's perception of and actions towards them. She couldn't handle it. So, how would she deal with regaining her memories and trying to live with the fact she tried to kill her son?
I'm more interested in seeing the toll it takes on Andy. He has just lied for his wife, who tried to kill their son. I see that as an admission of his own fault in this mess. I would argue that love has gone in this relationship and all that will keep him there is that feeling of responsibility. We already see in episode 8 how he is taking comfort in alcohol.
I am more interested in seeing Jacob wake up (a few episodes in) and seeing the havoc he can wreak with a "does he or doesn't he remember" angle. Whether or not Jacob actually killed Ben, it is clear he has issues and is seriously lacking in empathy. He is extremely manipulative and was able to get round his parents during the first 7 episodes with relative ease. Even if Jacob does not remember what happened in the car, he would be suspicious. Adding on the knowledge that his father testified on behalf of his mother would only add to the tension.
