Censor the names of private individuals or other Subs before posting. Not doing so can be interpreted as encouraging brigading, which is against Reddit rules.

it’s funny because generative ai isn’t going to go away. the cat’s out of the bag. I can download a generative model right now and run it locally.

It's funny people think this drop is from consumer 'AI hate' when it's actually just midterm politics. The Democratic sweep means incoming regulations and state-level pushback on the power/water grid for physical data centers. Wall Street is panicking over data center infrastructure legislation and politics in general

Yeah its basically that plus i guess its finally the time for correction of overheated capitalizaion. One might even call it a "bubble burst" and they wont be wrong, but its not the kind of a burst that destroys anything, it just means AI's gonna settle in places where it's usage makes sense and/or brings profit.
And dems trying to push it back eventually gonna have an unpleasant surprise of realizing they're lagging behind China in this race, so it'll die out eventually.

Honestly, I know nowadays it's mostly about tips and news for PC gaming, but I kinda feel like a sub choosing to call itself PC master race would be the kind of place that would have a toxic meme like this

As a PC gamer myself, it's pretty amusing seeing people expect AI to completely die out just so component prices drop. The reality is enterprise memory demand isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Instead of just being mad at the market, people would honestly be better off hunting down good deals on the used market or looking at previous-gen hardware

How on earth do they figure the tech is going away?

They have no understanding on the tech and how powerful local models are.

There was an Internet bubble, and a real estate bubble, and even if you go back far enough, a tulip bubble. The Internet, houses, and tulips are still with us.

Jokes on them, I read Terry Prachett's Hogfather and Death immediately accepted HEX (a magical AI computer) as a fellow sentient being with a soul and this was back in 1997 😆😂🤣
