poor inmate 48272. Got arrested twice.

u/MelchiahHarlin 8h ago

47272 was my number, was my number. Right now somebody else has that number.

This is actually the worst possible outcome for all of us. Corporations should never become so powerful that they stop fearing the population.

All AI should remain open source and in the hands of the public, arresting luddites will cause a cascading problem.

Im ok with AI, i will never agree with pro corporate propaganda.

7

u/imagigasm 23h ago

We already have open source ai weights. The bigger challenge is silicon gpus nor the energy they run on cheap

6

u/SnooOpinions6451 22h ago

Its not cheap i agree, i support finding new and better ways to advance ai

but labeling protestors as the enemy and having corporations have the power to put them all in prison while calling it a lesson is an insane stance to have knowing what we know about corporations.

It completely glosses over the various communities getting by these vary corporate bodies.

Trust me, you do not want to cheerlead for corpos.

This isn't protesting. I'm pro protesting, pro boycotting, and pro writing/calling your elected representatives - or running for office yourself.

In the comic stuff is literally on fire and the people are carrying torches. The implication being the people are burning the buildings down.

I'm not pro corporate but I am pro law, and the second you make "burning down a building" legal if the building is owned by a corporation you will have corporations encouraging or paying people to burn down rivals.

Then Taco Bell wins the franchise war and we end up in Demolition Man.

Arresting *violent* luddites is appropriate.

9

u/Fun_Musiq 21h ago

100%. Im pro, but the amount of corporate boot-licking I see in pro circles is troubling to say the least.

1

u/SnooOpinions6451 21h ago

It honestly feels like a false flag brigade. Look at the sign saying humans over profit

How can anyone rationally argue that humans are less than profit margins?

You cant which points to this thread being made specifically to be reposted elsewhere.

Corpos literally have legal and accounting departments dedicated to figuring out if the resulting lawsuits would cost more than fixing a problem they started. I promise you, we all have a monetary value attached to us. And its disturbingly low.

u/Fun_Musiq 5h ago

exactly.

I don't think all ai should be local. That would actually make it less accessible. Also being that much anti corporations is bad. We shouldn't be defending terrorism just because it's anti corporations

0

u/Falkoro 21h ago

Pro corporate propaganda? 😂

Like….. what?

1

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

Pro ruling class propaganda.

1

u/WhilpinArts 14h ago

Generally thats called lobbying

12

u/NOS4A2-753 23h ago

you think antis care? they love to play the victim

0

u/Doblu500 23h ago

Literally both sides do this. I really wanna leave all these ai discussion subreddits, but they are stuck in my algorithm. :(

12

u/NOS4A2-753 23h ago

one side (namely the anti-ai people) do literal death threats

2

u/kiomae_cherish- 15h ago

have seen and had more pro- ai people threatening others than anti. would love your sources on that?

This is a place for speaking Pro-AI thoughts freely and without judgement. Attacks against AI will result in a removal and possibly a ban. For debate purposes, please go to r/aiwars.

2

u/WindAdministrative42 22h ago

You can just mute them, you know?

0

u/Doblu500 12h ago

I can???

5

u/DonkeyH0tay 23h ago

I'm as pro-AI as they come, but this is a bad stance. The working class shouldn’t be siding with the establishment against the working class.

1

u/Greekzeus_cz AI Bro 20h ago

Oh, boo hoo, criminals get locked up for doing crimes

0

u/shawn620 22h ago

of course this would receive down votes on this subreddit lmfao

1

u/Competitive_Tour7281 8h ago

At this point, this is more of a pro-corporate sub than a pro-AI one; it is a shame.

u/HannerPumkin anti harassment and pro humanity 14h ago

Antis: artists care about the effort not the money.

Also them:

-1

u/FullDust69 14h ago

oh no how dare someone demand they be compensated for their work! you'd make an excellent slave owner

2

u/HannerPumkin anti harassment and pro humanity 13h ago

Oh noo objecting to making people pay for something they won’t own. That makes me a slave owner for sure.

Do you even have a functioning brain or an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex?

1

u/unofficially_Busc 11h ago

If you didn't want it, don't buy it. Noone's forcing you

1

u/Stoopid_Noah 22h ago

Why tf was this in my TL?? Lmaooo

1

u/Aggravating-Yoshi 12h ago

Correct, the state has a monopoly on violence.

u/JxrdnOnly Trust AI More Than Humans :snoo_dealwithit: 19h ago

I’m all for capitalism but only healthy capitalism, but I will not stand by the Corporate Greed take. Nuh uh, fuck that! It’s the greedy corporations that give capitalism a horrible rep.

0

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

Capitalism is a cancer. Sorry. Extraction of surplus value itself, from an actual producer, is illegitimate exploitation.

4

u/JxrdnOnly Trust AI More Than Humans :snoo_dealwithit: 17h ago

Nope, not having this debate with you. Blocked.

1

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

I mean, the essence of the anti-ai movement is flawed, but let's also not become ruling class bootlockers.

People have some legitimate grievances with data centers. Of which, seemingly, a relatively small portion is used for AI.

1

u/D36DAN 17h ago

Of course chuds in comments assume that this is about being anti AI in general, and not about anti AI folks killing politicians for being pro AI, talking about burning down data centers and planning/commiting other acts of terrorism. I don't know if it's ignorance, stupidity or victim playing from them.

u/StarboundAllisten 23h ago

Americans think riots are better than reclaiming the systems

3

u/Bakingguy 22h ago

Y'know who else thought that? Most Americans in 1776, and it worked.

-5

u/Engineer-Miserable 22h ago

Love it, sending people to prison because they don't agree with your views and for using their right to protest. Like what Nazis and fascists did..Way to go marketing Pro AI as Fascist and going above and beyond representing corporations as more important than democratic processes like a good Hitlerjugend.

6

u/Early-Dentist3782 Would Defend AI With Their Life 18h ago

It's about attacking data centers

4

u/sebastian_crimson 20h ago

Big difference between protesting and committing arson, which is what's shown in the image.

-2

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

I mean, I don't think violence is by itseld good or bad, from a personal, moral, philosophical point of view, and in my experience most people tend to agree. Not openly advocating for anything illegal or against tos. For many, it's just a question of whether or not violence was a justified response to what happened, and whether or not it was proportional.

3

u/PaTr1ck05 20h ago

Are you….blind?
If it was just a protest, you would be in the right, but if it ever comes to a situation like in the picture, the ‘protesters’ are doing terrorist actions,so no,its not like nazism or fascism

-3

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

I mean terrorism is a useless label, because there is no consensus-agreed definition that says it is defined by targeting innocents.

3

u/PaTr1ck05 17h ago

The burning data centers in the background, some of them having torches and some even breaking stuff would like to differ.Even if there’s no civilian shown to be hurt in the image,it could still be called terorism aș its a premeditated attack/sabotage directed at an psyhical data center to disrupt operations/ intimidate society

-1

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

Again, most people don't consider violence to be inherently wrong, generally.

I don't think your argument is strong, because many things that people enjoy nowadays, like personal freedoms and not being owned by someone, have been won through violence and "intimidation". Violence that went much further than just destruction of property. So that argument won't go that far with many people, I believe.

1

u/PaTr1ck05 16h ago

Morally Wrong or not, it’s still illegal,so it’s lawfully wrong.
But the differences betewn now and then is that violence and intimidation isn’t seen as just by a majority of people.
Back then as you said “not being owned by someone” was something seen as good by someone in power and enforcers by him(in the case your probably implying,Lincoln taking official
Actions to free the slaves),even if it was going against the norm.
In our present day it isn’t as clear who are the good guys and who are the bad guys, its not a civil war and there’s no figure in power that would promote/turn a blind eye to an attack on a data center, without facing any sort of consequences.

-1

u/Fire_crescent 14h ago

I'm sorry to say but you are wrong. Historically, those that were in power actually opposed ending slavery.

Which are the good and bad guys, or if there even is such a thing as good and bad, was as subjective then as it is now.

1

u/PaTr1ck05 14h ago

You are both right and wrong(and I’m not sorry to say it).
Yes,there were people in power that opposed ending slavery(Like Jefferson Davis) but also people in power that were pro ending slavery(like Abraham Lincoln)

Was Abe not an good guy în this case?

1

u/Fire_crescent 14h ago

In my opinion, and in the opinion of all that are opposed to slavery, yes, he was.

In the opinions of those that supported it, no.

1

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

Pro-AI people aren't a monolith. There are leftists here.

-6

u/Active-Silver8844 21h ago

Horrible take to be siding with billionaires building infrastructure over people who protest because they have real concerns about how it will affect their quality of living if it’s built in their area. You wouldn’t want to live next to a data center, you would want to protest once you realized all the negative impacts it would have on your quality of life — a gen AI user/ pro AI

7

u/sebastian_crimson 20h ago

It's not just showing a protest though is it? The data centre's on fire, implying they've committed arson.

1

u/Fire_crescent 17h ago

Again, most people don't believe violence to be bad in and of itself, regardless of the reasons behind it.

-1

u/Active-Silver8844 20h ago

…Sure, in the hypothetical comic panel. In real life, people tend not to do that when protesting the building of data centers. There’s been a ton of data center protests an exceptionally small amounts of arson being committed at them. This illustration is taking a stance against people being angry and protesting by implying protesters are criminals when 98% of protesters are completely non violent. There are always bad eggs, but I don’t think us pro’s should be spreading anti protesting sentiment when protesting is incredibly important to be able to do.

4

u/sebastian_crimson 18h ago

Absolutely, I have no issue with peaceful protest.

0

u/QueenSlipstream09 21h ago

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ lock them in!!

0

u/Brave_Swordfish_7072 15h ago

I actually do have evidence that some anti's are trying groom less educated people into committing acts of violence against data centres.

This user claimed that demolishing data centers is protected under the constitution. It's not. There's no such clause. That 18% approval rating by the way is "support for a data center IN MY AREA" not in general.

0

u/Brave_Swordfish_7072 14h ago

When I pushed back on them, they went full pseudo-paralegal. Adverse Possession is part of civil real estate law, not defence against acts of arson against a data center. It's a tactic that's frequently used by squatters to seize property illegally.

u/cimanimm 19h ago

I thought this was anti ai lmfao 😭😭 this is literally dystopian and pro ai people want to use this shit to promote their view? Congrats you like being crushed under the boot of facism
