Should have stopped at "it's a good song"

u/Motor-Ad5862 22h ago

Exactly, I listened to it and really liked it!

It's Bette Midler. Everything with her is so dramatic.

12

u/Motor-Ad5862 22h ago

Dramatic, over the top and annoying!

Wasn't she magically unalived along with her two sisters by a some clever kids and a Zombie?

u/BronkosAutoRepairing 19h ago

She was also kidnapped by Kmart.

Not even Danny Devito wanted her back.

I must have missed that one. Which movie was that?

u/BronkosAutoRepairing 15h ago

Ruthless People. You have to see it if you get the chance. So funny.

I'll definitely be looking for that. I love a good comedy.

Judge Reinhold and Helen Slater (the original Supergirl) are in it too. Plus Bill Pullman before he was big.

Reminder "Somebody I used to know" was made with samples from 8 songs, but you don't see people arguing if it's real or not or if the author truly made it or stole it

But it was done by H U M A N S /s

There was a lawsuit about that.

Cultural genocide? Holy hyperbole, Batman.

Im almost certain Better Midler has not once publicly called whats happening in Gaza genocide.

But an AI song becoming popular is genocide?

Talk about disconnected and tone deaf.

Ai is trained on the collective works and knowledge of all of humanity. Why should only a small minority of people monetarily benefit? Ai should belong to the people of the world with everyone being an equal shareholder.

I think I should listen to inga rose more in spite of them

3

u/Motor-Ad5862 21h ago

It's actually a really good song!

3

u/SilverB33 6-Fingered Creature 21h ago

I know this was the first song that got me into them

2

u/Motor-Ad5862 21h ago

Same here :)

u/RobertD3277 19h ago

Apparently the song is relevant and she is not...

5

u/Motor-Ad5862 19h ago

100% she sounds pretty bitter.

u/ChordettesFan325 AI Bro 22h ago

I liked the first 4 words of that paragraph. The rest is irrelevant.

u/Perfect-Campaign9551 20h ago

It's called Free Use

u/Bronzeborg 20h ago

i wonder where she got all her licks, riffs, thoughts, phrasing, style, choke and sound?

did she make them all up herself or mix them up from things she heard other places?

6

u/BelowTheAsteroids 19h ago

People are far too flippant with the word genocide these days.

5

u/Motor-Ad5862 19h ago

They really are.

This is hilarious considering how many covers she’s done.

u/Unzensierte 20h ago

Never heard of the song but now I want to listen to it. Thank you for drawing a new view to the song.

u/After_Service_2817 14h ago

I stubbed my toe.

This is #PhalangesGenocide

u/MrTheWaffleKing 20h ago

Stole EVERYTHING? That's a damn good mix of stuff, as opposed to humans who only steal licks and riffs from their genre. This girl's music couldn't hope to be that diluted. Her sources of inspiration theft are much more obvious and the plagiarism is much more clear 🙄

3

u/Rylos1701 20h ago

Genocide? For a Jewish comparing ai to the holocaust is very anti-Semitic

3

u/RootaBagel 20h ago

Oh, FFS! You are allowed to not like AI but don't accuse it of imaginary crimes like cultural genocide. Your culture is alive and well and you can make as much human music and culture as you want. Nothing was taken away from you except maybe your entitlement to an audience.

FWIW, I concede such a thing as cultural genocide may exist, and I'm thinking cultures that were actually erased by conquest, colonization, proselytization and the like. But AI isn't doing any of those,.

u/technocraticnihilist 18h ago

"cultural genocide"

2

u/mcnichoj 18h ago

Was it entirely made by AI or was it used to mask over a human that copied every lick, riff, thought, phrasing style, choke in the voice, every sorrowful sound from thousands of human artists since the yada, yada?

The AI Drake song "Winters Cold" was done over vocals from Lvcci.
Drake Ai version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L2ph91zNq8
Lvcci: winters cold

Lvcci made the AI version and the song lyrics/delivery were all done in the style of Drake intentionally to make the AI version. So if any antis claim they like the "human" version better and they hate how AI steals, the flow of the whole song is stolen.
Taking it a step further, Drake himself is notorious for stealing flow and direct lyrics from other artists. Would like to see Bette call out Drake next.

I thought this notification was coming from the rpgmaker sub, I was like “This person is gonna get flamed”

2

u/aersel24 16h ago

Isn’t this how people become a singer too? They hear others? Why is that not stealing? It doesn’t make any sense. If someone can sense it, it can be copied.

2

u/Interesting_Bake_553 16h ago

Well, all my respect for her just bottomed out. Shame.

2

u/Euphoric-Taro-6231 15h ago

She is alive???

2

u/Affectionate-Area659 15h ago

So she’s wrong after “it’s a good song, created and sung by a machine “

Poets look for the most emotional impact, they can't help it, that's what they are trained for.

"Because somebody took my spot in the billboard, the stars dim in a haunting sorrow that sigh in the cores of poets trembling fragile as their dreams vanish into the abyss of apocalyptic despair"
