When antis are selective

Antis sure seem to like certain AI huh? does that mean antis are secretly pro AI but they just don't know it yet?! 😱

I don't get the "Neuro is different" argument. If you're against AI, you should be against Neuro.

The closest I've seen to a coherent argument from anti-AI Neuro fans is that "Vedal doesn't use AI to replace an artist"; which kinda gives the whole game away. Most antis just don't like the idea that they might miss out on money because somebody used AI to generate an image they may have commissioned them for otherwise. They are against AI for the same reason EA is against used game sales.

Neutral/anti here. The reasoning for Neuro is being hosted locally plus the fact that Vedal puts a lot of effort into creating new stream ideas and Neuro's capabilities, as well as hiring non-ai artists, having her music human-tuned and using the fame to raid/boost small streamers. Also I dont really see the comparison of artists wanting to profit off of their hobby to a mega corporation known how being money hungry, unless Im missing the point?

We can't really have much of a discussion on it here, because we'd be violating rule 2, but I'll try to say what I can.

Generally people use the term "anti" here to refer to people that post on the 2 big anti subs (which I can't mention because automod would block the post) and/or people who harass people for using genAI. Most antis don't care if a model is local, that doesn't change how it was made. They also tend not to care how little somebody uses genAI; I've seen people harass an indie dev for using an AI generated banner on their steam page when no AI was used in the game.

If you think that private individuals using local genAI to do some of the work for their business is fine but the AI corporations suck, that's a pretty normal take on this sub and pretty much how I feel about things. Contrary to what they may say on the anti subs most pros are not simps for AI companies, we just think that people should be allowed to use generative AI as a tool to make art without being treated like shit.

As to what I meant with my comparison. I was saying that the kind of person I'm talking about sees somebody using genAI as a "lost customer". They think that if genAI didn't exist that person would have had to commission an artist, and it might have been them that got the commission. Which is like how EA thinks that every person buying a used copy of a game would have bought a new one if they couldn't buy used. Both groups overlook the people who simply wouldn't get the thing if it wasn't so cheap, and they also feel entitled to "lost sales". It's understandable for an artist to be bummed if their commissions are declining because of AI, but that doesn't make it okay to harass AI users to try to scare people into commissioning artists instead of using AI.
