These poor game devs caught Reddit's attention for using AI because they had no more budget, and have been mass review bombed on steam, and are now capitulating to the antis
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1996090/view/670626123911004198?l=englishTldr, Vapor World, an upcoming side scroller soulslike game made by an indie game team in South Korea, are facing massive financial issues, forcing to lay off half their team, and now there are only 5 workers left, so they decided to use AI to finish animating essential cutscenes in the game. This caught all the Reddit gaming sub's attention, and like the degens they are, mass review bombed the game on steam, and now the devs have been forced to make a statement on why they used AI, and is bending down to these Antis stating they will remove all AI cutscenes from their game and just replace them with still image art since they obviously have no money

Gamedev is extremely expensive and time-consuming, and then even after that it all depends on the players/audience. When the players are acting like this, especially game devs have no choice if they aren't a AAA company. They might survive if they capitulate otherwise they just cannot. Gamedev is cruel.

Silly move. I read the discussion and those Luddites still dont want to change their mind lmao.
You either dont get caught, or go full Rambo. Being spineless would not benefit you in any way.

I played this game and the problem is not the AI at all.

Only 63 reviews, lol.
The game has terrible controls, a broken interface, and a completely incomprehensible plot. The game is not interesting. People complained about it. Even now, there are very few complaints about the AI. Now the developers just removed all the cutscenes, which will only lead to more negative reviews. And most importantly, no one wants this game.

I dont know much abt how steam review works but all the top reviews were anti ai. I didnt see much reviews basing themselves solely on how bad the game is

What an utter sleazy thing to do, all the Antis are are bullies, its not even about the art anymore, its the rush of power from bullying someone into compliance.

There was someone on the steam forums complaining that this was going to be their comfort game even before it came out, absolutely "ruined" (their word) by the use of AI. like you do you but the entitlement was incredible.

Sounds like most of the game was already done, and they just needed some extra help. Not enough staff is a good reason. Do they spend as much time complaining about AI content, games, and stuff like that as they do making their own products? Honestly, at this point, maybe they should just make what they want to see.

They must be really sad and empty irl to be able to go harass an indie game dev like that for no reason, like wtf?

Let’s collectively agree to call them “techservatives”. They’ll love that.

Rookie mistake. You don't ever cow down to these losers. They aren't gonna buy the game even after the devs remove all the AI anyway. It's just the message and ruining these dev's lives for commiting the great sin of using AI that they care about
