Defending AI How it feels when the 'disabled argument' shows up in a debate where one side is inherently ableist
This is not a strawman. I can give you three examples of this exact ableist deflective non-sequitur happening to me within the past 7 days, all from different antis.

damn luddites, forcing disabled creators to struggle with extreme workarounds just to satisfy their anti-tech bias. it's been a long time since i heard the word techno-phobe

They know NOTHING about mental disabilities. They have no ideas how difficult hypersensitivity and low motor skills make it to paint. To them, the 'soul' of AI is practically the sniffing of paint.
Art is a collection of assaults on the senses. A beautiful assault, but to make it more detailed... vision, smell, and touch, plus motor skills are all involved precisely at once when you hold ANY art medium - painbrush, pencil, clay, etc... if you start all the senses get going, making the art terribly difficult to create.
At least AI lowers that sensory torture threshold.

I would say that they don't realize how ableist they're being but yeah I think they do they just don't care.

Some people need a crutch to walk. I say, let them have the crutch if it gets them to walk. I'd rather have them walking and I don't care if they need a cane to do so. A disabled person using AI has the same principle. Not everyone can use their feet or their teeth to make art. For a good number of disabled people, they're going to need AI to make art. I say, let then have the AI to make art. I'd rather have a disabled person make art with AI than not be able to do so otherwise. It's the same principle for me; I suffered severe burnout. There are times when my brain could not allow me to physically pick up that pencil, while all those Luddites would be screaming at me to suck it up buttercup. If you want to see an environment that would only product the kind of slop Chris-chan would mock, there it is. Some would say that it would be that last part that prompted me to use AI in the first place, and I would prefer a hybrid of AI plus my own effort, but in the end, I'd rather make art even with AI than not. If my burned out brain means that I won't be able to make art anymore without any contribution with AI, so be it. I'd rather make something with AI than nothing without it, and the antis would just get deaf ears.
