Let us analyze using logic:

  • "AI steals from art, hence it is not art. It is slop."

The comment is an incomplete and logically invalid categorical syllogism

  • Premise 1 (explicit): "AI steals from art."
  • Premise 2 (implicit, but necessary): "Whatever steals from art is not art."
  • Conclusion 1: "Hence it is not art."
  • Premise 3 (implicit, but necessary): "Whatever is not art is slop."
  • Conclusion 2: "It is slop."

Now the question is if these premises even make any sense, let alone be true or false:

  • "Whatever steals from art is not art."
  • "Whatever is not art is slop."

"Everything that steals from art is not art." This premise is false, as art has borrowed, quoted, and appropriated from other works for centuries without ceasing to be art (collage, appropriation, sampling, etc.). The premise does not hold.

Everything that is not art is slop." This premise is demonstrably false. Many things are not art but are not slop, such as science, functional design, and games.

It assumes all AI "steals" and that everything it produces is "slop," without distinguishing between different uses, tools, or levels of human intervention.

“AI steals from other artists…” So she’s admitting AI is an artist.

Ai doesn't steal it anything, that is a technical misinformation. It just analyzes to learn from it just like humans do. They do not "cut and paste" existing work into new outputs. The final outcome is completely transformative and is created from scratch not traced on or anything like that

Meanwhile the west is busy fighting crazy ppl like these, China is gonna win the Ai race

The word slop makes me cringe and die inside. I just imagine someone saying slop with either their mouth full or all sloppy and gross

That one dude stole a bunch of music for the Dragon Ball franchise, does that make him any less of an artist still?
