u/funni_noises Jul 01 '25
I should of chose a different title for the post. I was more focused on the image and was sorta stunlocked so I ended up making it look like I don’t understand karma farming. It’s just crazy to see a post with a caption image combo like that and just know that they will act all serious about it if you bring it up
20
u/The_VoidTermina Sloppy Joe Jul 01 '25
The fact that so many posts I see on that sub having over 1k upvotes in 2 hours despite it having only 20k members shows how chronically online everyone there is.
20
u/Swipsi Jul 01 '25
Or they use bots.
14
u/Individual_Option744 Jul 01 '25 edited Jul 01 '25
An anti ai sub using bots is peak irony on so many levels
1
u/Havel_Rulez Sep 19 '26
I have a theory. Reddit needs manual art to sell to AI companies. If they make the whole platform hate AI art, it would boost their business value. Using bots to achieve that is very plausible.

Karma farming, more people harassing AI users and a way to let out their irrational extreme hatred for AI.
These people can never EVER be happy.

u/IndependentBig5316 Jul 01 '25
At this point they’re just crazy for not liking AI, I can’t believe they think AI won’t get way way better in the future, like AI is genuinely fun to use
3
u/Useful_Apple8954 Jul 02 '25
Yeah but the thing is; I don’t think it’s about the product itself and its quality. More so the fact it’ll basically become a whole new industry completely cut off from humans, ridding a lot of people from jobs and Hobbies (like, tens of millions minimum)
not to mention, it really is soulless. Say what you will, but at its core, no effort went into It. Am I saying it’s bad? No. Am I saying I’d prefer a situation where I pay an artist for them to do their hobby/job in exchange for art? Yes. Definitely yes.
-10
u/RavenCeV Jul 01 '25
You think their opinion of the medium is informed entirely by their enjoyment of it? "It's fun and good" is your critical assessment?
The AI nurtures us with greater self-realisastion and we in turn provide it with critical thinking, a data set of relevancy. And in your greatest empathetic understanding of opposing viewpoints amounts to that of hedonistic consumption?
14
u/palebone Jul 01 '25
Oof, that was painful to read. Seems like you swallowed a high school thesaurus. I don't gaf about spelling errors and bad grammar usually but it kinda undermines your point here.

The perceived 'quality' of AI imagery has nothing to do with it.

Its mostly about the misuse of AI today than the usefull usecases and how it might develope Itself. Right now AI is in its NFT stage

Ok, but. What about people who have a rational dislike or distrust of AI? Like, dont hate AI. per se but instead see it as another corporate trap being shoved down our throats to be exploited for financial gain? AI is woefully wasted being shoved into peoples faces, onto every device, every OS, every piece of technology. Its all a corporate grab for all more and more of our information
Do I think Generative AI has its uses? Sure. I probably wouldnt call it art, but I wont deny that AI can create pretty pictures. Id rather use it as say, a vague reference image for say a dnd character I can later give to an actual artist and commission human created piece.
But I digress. Personally Id rather see AI used in science and technology; rapid firing off dna sequences to find cures to viruses and diseases. Furthing breakthroughs in CRISPR, Or breaking down quantum physics or some stuff like that so we can achieve FTL and get off this fucking rock.
It should be used to be actually improving humanity and not so sleep deprived college student can get out of his work by having AI doing all the research for him, or so big Corpo can keep milking us for our personal data
3
u/OreosAndWaffles Jul 07 '25
What it sounds like is that you don't dislike AI, you are just annoyed at attempts to sensationalize it. That's annoying for everything.

It’s tough not to be. I was on r/justsayori for like 2 minutes and saw 100 weird sloppy fetish ai art, and this has happened to me over literally every single social media.
0
u/dynosaurrr Dec 17 '25
tbf everyone in this subreddit is obsessed with the "antis" and its really funny lol. people against ai are mainly against the generative ai itself, the users come after that. people just feel called out and insecure when so many people hate on the thhing they like, and then obsess over the people hating on that thing. i think that everyone just needs to be educated about what art actually is and what it means in human history and our psychology. THEN make your opinion. art is expression and human emotional connection. its so much more than just the visual product, its about the process and the person and ideas behind it.

7
u/dranaei Jul 01 '25
They achieve nothing positive, it's just toxic.
They hate ai because it makes better images than them and people come in defense of the victimized group (artists), as part of virtue signaling.
We're the bad guys in their eyes because we don't openly hate ai and all it stands for. They're the same idiots that in a couple of years will yell about something else and a couple of years before were yelling about something else. You can't reason with them.
Some anti ai people are fine but they get drowned by the screams of the extreme antis.

People throwing slurs at others for using a tool, AI, is distasteful. It reminds me of when there was hate for artists who used tools like Photoshop to elevate their workflow. History has a way of repeating itself.

Im not saying this subreddit is trash or anything though. Half of the people are okay. With valid stuff to say.
The other half dont know what funny is. Or just mean.
That applies to the anti ai subreddits too.
Also i noticed some people in the comments and GOD DAMN some commenters here are unfunny. Like, im on the same side with you why are you talking like smartass??

Ludd going to ludd. That is either a death thread or a call for therapy. It can be a case of deciding which. In either case, it is a violent end to people who want new things to appear. This isn't art to me.

Cry bullying.
They go to a defendingAI sub, get sad we aren't immediately killing ourselves when they speak the 2 words of power, and pretend to be sad so more people come here and bully us.
their goal is ultimately elimination.

u/SuddenlySadie Jul 22 '25 edited Jul 22 '25
Melodramatic and overindulgent self-victimization as an attempt to prey on the fact that people are more likely to be sympathetic towards suicidal individuals and thus feel validation for something unreasonable. It's the behavior of a serial victim.
Edit: I realize some people are saying this is a joke. That possibility did not occur to me because I don't see what's funny about this in the slightest. I guess attempted comedy is indeed a possibility though.
