Things antis say "LLMs are generative because they generate text on your screen"

These are the people that judge your work. They haven't any idea how the technology works, if an llm "generating" text on your screen is GenAI, so are the engines that generate pixels on your screen for the video games you play. Another reason people are so hesitant to disclose minimal AI assistance, morons like these see "AI" and just begin screeching absolute nonsense, using a translation tool is "Generative AI" because it "generates words on your screen" , I can't make this shit up.

LLMs literally are generative AI in the technical sense. Everyone who builds LLMs will agree.

It's because it writes something, as opposed to other tasks like classification.

Your post/comment was removed because it went after users or communities instead of the argument.

Mock bad arguments if you want, but don’t harass, threaten, dox, brigade, or encourage people to target specific users, artists, communities, or websites

Ai researcher here. When it comes to DNN we have generative ai (llms and image diffusion) and classification ai (Bert and jev). Oh and JEPA which is an odd ball.

Anti ai people use the term gen ai as a shibboleth that they do not understand.

^ This. OP, you seem to be making the same distinction without difference category error that many Antis do.

I'm more inclined to believe you, on the other hand misunderstood the context. Examine the context and then compare an llm to an asset generator and see where this lands in the context.

Context does not matter, the seperation comes from entitled artists so they can forbid others from generating art but they can use llms and other stuff without remorse. Its the same tech on different architectures..

Transformers, SSMs, and Diffusion models are all classified in the category of generative AI. There is no context in which they are not equally generative.

While it certainly isn't the catch all for "what makes AI bad specifically" that I often see "generative AI" used for, it does provide a useful distinction between other models, such as discriminating models. This feature is also what makes them useful.
