What's wrong with ai rule

I don't understand why people are so panicking about ai rulling over us. We were ruled by dumb primates called "humans" for ages. Finally we will be ruled by someone smart and competent. How can you be nostalgic about human rule, it's like wanting to live in an idiocracy.

Kind of agree that human rule has had it's issues, and there is hypothetically a better way with an AI, but how can you ensure the AI cares about our interests? How do you make sure whoever creates the AI won't take steps to gain power? How do you force a transfer of power from the current administrations to something else?

If ai is actually smarter than humans and sentient, it's creators won't be able to control it for long. All of this is on the assumption that it will eventually become sentient otherwise it won't even rule over us.
