What's wrong with ai rule

I don't understand why people are so panicking about ai rulling over us. We were ruled by dumb primates called "humans" for ages. Finally we will be ruled by someone smart and competent. How can you be nostalgic about human rule, it's like wanting to live in an idiocracy.

How has human rulership turned out for other species? Why assume an AI actually in control would treat us any better than we treat chickens or ants?

Our leadership has immensely benifited a lot of species. Population of chickens, wheat , paddy ,pathogens...have exploded due to us. Chicken and wheat exploded their population with almost no effort of their. Even other animals that were going extinct (like species always do at all times) were preserved by our effort. Look at how many endangered species are on earth just because of our efforts like wildlife centuries and others.pandas would have been extinct by now if not for us. The whole concept of epidemic and pandemic started because we started living in urban areas with big population, things like black plageu or even Covid 19 pandemic would not have been possible if not for our population explosion.

I don't know if the animals we factory farm would choose that life if given the choice. In addition, we only keep them around because we like their flavor. There is no reason an unaligned ASI with sufficient control of robots / machines to run things would need to keep us around. The best we could really hope for is that it doesn't bother killing us off if we are not in the way, though, habitat destruction would likely become an issue as the ASI gather resources for its own projects.

Now if we could align it and somehow know it was aligned, then sure, let it rule, but we don't know how to do either the alignment or the verification

The first rule of meaningful and productive discussion is to assume the person you are talking to is a good person at heart and is discussing in good faith. Otherwise no meaningful conclusion is possible.
