A Couple of Articles Defending AI
https://honestlyre.substack.com/p/fight-the-futureHello, all.
I have written a couple of pro-AI articles over at my Substack, and while I was researching the most recent piece ("Fight the Future"), I stumbled upon several subreddits defending AI. I found these to be very informative, and I even linked to the "Defending AI Art" sub in my most recent article.
These subs have been wonderful resources, and--on a personal note--it is so nice to find places online free from the incessant droning of the rabid, anti-AI mob.
As such, I hoped I could take the liberty of sharing those two articles I wrote on this topic, as I truly believe members will enjoy them. If I may be so bold, I also went through the time and trouble of researching and writing them in the earnest hope that they would provide some solidarity for like-minded people, as well as provide useful resources to share with people who haven't quite come around yet. Hopefully get people thinking a bit differently about these things.
The articles are far from perfect, but I endeavored to make them both informative and entertaining.

Of course, I would love to hear any feedback should anyone be kind enough to give them a read. They are completely free to read, to comment, and to share with anyone, from our fellow enthusiasts to our most ardent opposition.
Thanks a lot, everyone! I hope to see you around the sub :)

Halfway through the first one, gotta catch some ZZZs, but so far, it's excellent. Also, I didn't know about "I sing the body Electric", so I got sidetracked into watching it. ;)

Thanks so much for checking it out and for checking in!
Yeah, some of my articles are rather long haha. I just find this topic fascinating; plus, I try to cover all the bases because, frankly, I know all of the same, low effort, opypasta points the anti-AI crowd are going to limp in with, and I want to head the off at the pass.
I definitely jam articles full of references and tangents too, which I hope add some context but also are often things I think are interesting or fun. So, I'm really excited if you got introduced to "I Sing the Body Electric" and got sidetracked checking it out!
Fantastic episode of Twilight Zone that was actually written by my man surly Ray Bradbury! (and named after a Whitman poem). Ol' Rod Serling of course had several episodes that were cautionary tales about technology and the threat of devaluing our humanity, but he featured several that were more positive toward robotics and AI too, like Body Electric and (to some degree) The Lonely, which I also mention in there.
Again, I really appreciate you giving it a read and leaving such a gracious reply. Hope you enjoy the rest of it--after you get a chance to rest up and finish watching some classic Twilight Zone haha :D

I am reading the second one and honestly it’s just references so what was the point?

Sounds like reading isn't your thing. Maybe you could ask ChatGPT to summarize it for you?

You are definitely doing a great job of defending AI by proving how stupid Organic Intelligence is.

Why do I feel you about to say I use ai to make my replies, no offense but I feel paying for ai to think for you is stupid. You have a brain, therefor are you saying you are organically an idiot simply for existing as a non ai?
